apologies if anyone has posted on this already, but i haven't personally seen any posts on the topic and i was... genuinely unaware of this.
and here's an article i also found on the topic. not sure if there's any mutual aid resources at the moment as i can't find anything on it but if anyone knows of any feel free to add it on
Here is an article with information about where to get food and cool off. There’s also information about a medical oxygen refill station at Indiana University Northwest.
Food distribution dates go until Saturday, August 29th. Unfortunately, all of the hot meal opportunities were listed for the 18th and have passed. The article has not been updated with more.
From reading local reports, food banks and community organizations have done a lot to organize, but are overwhelmed. Monetary donations to food banks usually stretch longer.
You can donate to the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana here.
A local 501(c)3, the Legacy Foundation also has a storm recovery and relief fund for Gary that you can make monetary donations to.
This orange cat keeps coming to see me everytime I'm recording for my album 🥹 I'm talking waiting on me to pull up to the studio lol I named her MISO 🧡 my girl a street cat and I can't tell if she wants to come home with me but she's been down for thee whole ACTIII process! what are thee odds she's orangeee 😻 I think it means good luck idk hotties lol
what i fucking love about this scene is that we know it's not really ryan, naim knows it’s not really ryan. there's no part about this that is naim being lulled, being seduced, being tricked, being gotcha!'d. it's not him but it wears his face; it talks like him, it caresses like him, it comes close and smiles and laughs like he would. naim is leaning in despite the danger, moth to flame, knowing full well what's in front of him and craving it anyway.
this is queerness as fantasy—what we could be if not for circumstance. it's queer desire in a world determined to treat us as aliens. more than any other moment in the film, this scene exemplifies leviticus thematically in one brutal, efficient stroke. they want us separate and alone and scared, but we don't have to be. loving hurts, and we love anyway.
someone said "ryan wanting to do cute shit with naim like take photobooth pics" and i'm now realising that the interaction ryan had with the entity that naim witnessed was ryan just thinking his crush wanted to take him out to a cute date. someone will see us. are you sure? even though everybody knows about me? you want to go anyway? ok :) FUCKING KILL ME
There's something about parents hating the idea of their child being gay more than they love them that I will never understand. Between Naim, Hunter, Ryan, Jessica, and Marnie. Hell, even Izzie blaming Ryan for "making her brother feel that way" and Naim for outing him. She just continues to place the blame on them instead of her fucking parents!
Naim's mother knowing full damn well what will happen to her son and just, not caring. I think it says a lot that Naim and Ryan end up running away because that's the only option for most kids in this situation (without the whole invisible entity). It's like the saying goes, there's no hate like Christian love
How RACE shows up in Lanterns || Lanterns EP1 Review
Really great video that talks about the importance of race in the first episode when it comes to the differences between Hal and John. Also love them pointing out how William acknowledges Americans living on stolen land because he fears Earth being colonized by aliens. It's only the first episode, but I have hopes that they will explore these themes further
