RIP John Lennon

So, my solo art show opening is today.
I have three bottles of wine, Cat Power and PJ Harvey CDs ("Is this desire" nothing too extreme), crackers, ginger snaps, sparkling water, ginger ale...not sure what else to do.
Any advice?

If you're in the Portland, ME area, it's at Jacob's Chiropractics, 138 St. John Street, Portland, from 5-7. I decided to title it "What Keeps Us Whole" after a mark strand poem.

Another solo show

So, today I went to this chiropractor to show him my artwork. He has a gallery in his waiting room and he rotates shows there every two months or so, and it looks like I will be having a show there in a couple of weeks! I'm a bit stressed out because I've been working so much and won't have time to make anything new for the show, but I'm basically just going to show everything finished I've made in the past year or so and see what happens. I am hoping that this will be a better show than my solo show at Starbucks, since the people coming in the office will actually care about anatomy and such. Everyone in the office was really impressed by my work, and said most of my work would probably sell. This both puts me in a panic and made me really happy. I was thinking of calling it something like "collected works" but I don't know...something more creative would be helpful, if anyone has any suggestions? I called my starbucks show "juxtapositions".

I have been in a horrific creative rut, though. I need to blast out of that. My friends Alex, Theresa, and my roommate Caitlin and I want to start to put on little shows in our apartments and have openings amongst our friends and such, which could prove to be great fun. But I want to have newnewnew work for it.

Tomorrow evening I'm going to the museum because it's free then and I (for once) don't have to work.

I'm participating in two secret santas and am really sort of getting into the Holidays for the first time since I was about four.

About two hours ago I made myself a huge dinner and I can still feel it sitting in my stomach. Arghkl.

p.s. Working at the Children's museum makes me incredibly happy.

I hope all is well with everyone. xooxox

Solo Show at the Hay Building in Portland, ME

Hey all. Just a little note to tell everyone that I just finished hanging my first solo show, "Juxtapositions," at the Hay Building Starbucks in Portland, ME (on the corner of Congress, High, and Free Street, just across from the Portland Museum). I have drawings on photographs, collages, and a brand new drawing I just finished that I will hopefully get a picture of soon.

Portland is such an amazing city and treating me so well...I'm honored to be able to show here...Hopefully this will envoke more opportunities!

Enjoy the gorgeous day everyone...

Help me pay for my website?

So, it's time for me to renew my website, silentlanguages.org, but I have absolutely no money in my extra funds account...and the last day to pay the bill is October 3rd.

So...if anyone wants to buy a piece of artwork with paypal at my store, that would be a wonderful help. Also, if you can't afford any of those pieces and would like to donate something to the fund, I would love to send you a package of drawings. You can do that through paypaling cathedralanatomy (AT) gmail (DOT) com.

Thank you for your help and support...

Solo Show of sorts

During the month of October I will have a solo exhibition at the Hay Building Starbucks on Congress Street in Portland, ME. I will also be participating in the First Friday Artwalk, which happens Friday evening and is a good time for all.

I am so excited -- it's my first solo show. I'm going to have my photograph drawings up (as a sort of final farewell to them), along with other pieces that juxtapose science and art in some manner.

Let me know if you see are able to see it. :)

xo,
Lauren
