First: Don't Tell Mama
It was a dull sort of sunday when Keisha went outside and found her little brother in the garden, hiding in a shrub. Being a naturally nosy sort of person, she peeked into the bush.
"How are you doing that?" She said after a moment.
Eric jumped a bit and looked up at his sister guiltily. "Doing what?"
"That." She pointed at the blobs of light that were drifting up out of his fingertips.
"Oh. I dunno."
They watched as the blobs floated up over their heads.
"Promise you won't tell?" Said Eric.
She watched as the blobs were carried away by the wind. "I promise."
Second: Weird Weather
It was morning. Sunshine poured through the slits in the blinds, and Adam knew it was time to get up. He oozed out of bed, yawned, then threw open the bedroom door.
It was raining in the hallway. When he looked up at the ceiling, he saw dark grey clouds swirling and storming above. Small bolts of lightning sparked. The pool of water on the floor stopped exactly at the doorway, as though an invisible wall was holding it out.
After staring stupidly for a moment, Adam slowly closed the door and crawled back into bed.
Weird weather we're having, he thought drowsily.
Third: Firebird
Teirce was feeding the birds in the large outdoor aviary when he caught the distinct smell of smoke.
He swore loudly and dropped the seed he'd been pouring and went to find the source.
Deep in the aviary, he came across a small pile of still smoldering ash. Above him, he could see a bird composed entirely of flame perched on one of the branches, looking down on him curiously.
"Dammit, Torch!" He said to the Phoenix. "You weren't supposed to change until Tuesday."
The bird shivered in a way reminiscent of feather-ruffling and Teirce sighed.
He left the bird and went back to work.
