Oh brother - Jack D "30 Rock"

My Hobo

Hi. I work with a hobo. I've been writing about him in my journal (most posts are friends only) for about a year. Only tonight did I look for other LJ users who share my interest in hobo. My hobo lives here. His van is parked behind my company's warehouse, because the company's owner is a hoboist sympathizer.
I am not.
I've been following him around, taking pictures of him for months now. I am fascinated and disgusted by this man, this slovenly pig of a human being. There's so much more.
If I've missed the point, let me know and I'll move on.

It's kind of funny. Earlier today I posted an entry featuring imaginary words with 'hobo' as a base (hobotopian, hobosexual, hobotomy, hobocentrism, etc), but I completely overlooked hobosity. I'll have to add that one to my list.

"Train on the Brain" documentary

Hey, looks like its been pretty dead here for the past little while. I guess everybody is standing on the side of the road with their thumbs-up somewhere...

I was just wondering if anybody saw the documentary "Train on the Brain" which was on TVO on July 7 at 10 PM. If not, I hope TVO will air it again because it was a really fabulous doc. about a new generation of hobos; train-hoppers with no plans or expectations for the future, only the desire for the thrill of wide open spaces and the wind in their hair. Some of these kids were regular people with jobs and homes, others were runaways, others were just professional hobos. It takes a very honest and gritty look at the lifestyle and there is great imagery and music (the entire score was written and performed by Beck).

Check it out if you already haven't!

This may exceed the expected limits of personified hobosity, but I thought it a nice introductory post.
