Ooh, interesting question! It’s a bit hard to say, because the original novel series follows Arainia from when she’s a child/teenager to when she’s an adult in her thirties, so her answers would vary wildly depending on her age and what point in the series we’re grabbing her from lol! I’m going to just use her “pre-Shepherd” personality for simplicity’s sake, when she hadn’t joined the Order and matured and changed as a result of her experiences there!

Prologue: she’d absolutely hate Prihine and wouldn’t be very civil or subtle about it. It’s hard for me to say, but I feel like her first gut instinct would be to protect Caine, so if she wasn’t given any time to think about it, she’d prioritize him. If she had a moment to think about it, she’d probably use a Word of Power to save both!

Chapter 1: she’d follow Trouble for sure (they were besties in the novels), but they’d both probably charge in headlong and bungle the whole thing lol, they both brought out that reckless/headstrong streak in each other!

Chapter 2: if given the choice, she’d probably go with Chase partially because she’d relate to him more/like him more off of the first impression, but she’d rationalize it to Blade as “well, they’re doing the raid anyway and you think he’s less trustworthy, so wouldn’t it be better to keep an eye on him rather than Riel, who we can probably trust to not be completely chaotic about it”? She’d also dread the prospect of having to dress up or go to a gala, so she’d try to avoid that route as much as possible unless forced LOL

Blade: wouldn’t even entertain the possibility. he’s all in, he’s of the opinion that if they’re going to die anyway, he’d rather die intact and the person he is rather than some oblivious shell that represents someone he’s not! It would hurt him if MC wanted to go through with it, but he’d accept it if they wanted to but make it clear that he won’t. And that he’d just go on loving them from afar until the end 🥹

Trouble: would never agree and would probably start yelling and fight anyone who tried to persuade him otherwise. the whole idea would be extremely offensive to him, and it would really hurt him if MC wanted to go through with it anyway, like he’s not worth the pain or remembering and can just be discarded for the sake of their temporary (false) happiness. he also probably wouldn’t even accept the impending End either, he’d be like “we don’t have time for this, why bother erasing our memories when we can concentrate on solving this and preventing the need at all??” and still keep on believing there’s a way out of it all the way to the very end!

Tallys: she’d pause and entertain the possibility for a little while. I guess it depends on how inevitable the end is? (For some reason I’m picturing like an apocalypse scenario or something, like “we just found out this is the Matrix and they’re going to pull the plug in 2 weeks and we’re all going to disintegrate into nothing and cease existing, so would you rather spend your last 2 weeks in oblivious peace rather than crippling despair?” Sorry if this is totally inaccurate to what you’re referencing!) She’d heavily entertain the idea if MC was into it, but in the end, she’s a Keeper through and through, so she’d opt to retain her memories. Or, if MC wanted to do it, she’d pretend to go through it too, but would just be faking it for their sake!

Shery: it’s difficult for me to believe that she’d go through with it, since she treasures her memories of MC so much, but I guess if MC really pressured her and begged her and sort of held her hostage (like “I won’t do it if you won’t, but I’ll be miserable and scared”), she’d reluctantly do it, but it’d break her heart! Given her preference, though, she probably wouldn’t go through with it but might fake it to appease MC!

Riel: nope. you’re not touching anything in his mind. his memories are his. you can do whatever you want, and he’ll go on loving you and watching over you, but the fact that you’d even suggest it to him makes him wonder if you really know him at all. he’d low-key think it a sign of mental weakness (and would probably be masking his own hurt as a show of pride), but he’d be very adamant about not doing it, and would probably persuade MC not to, too, unless they were really adamant too.

Chase: he’d pretend to go through with it for MC’s sake 🥹 he’s already good at lying and putting on a mask, so why not, for one last hurrah… to give them peace 🥹

Red: “that’s an interesting proposal, but no thank you.” he’s the type to never agree to alter his memories or his mind, but if MC wanted to do it, he wouldn’t stop them: he’d just make it clear that he’d retain his memories either way!

Ayla: it depends on how bad the situation is! if she thought there was any way to get out of it, she would adamantly fight it, but if she saw like irrefutable proof that it’s all going to end in X amount of time and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it, she’d probably do the–procedure, or whatever–with MC, if that was what they wanted! kind of a “fuck it, we ball” situation!

Briony: you ask the amnesiac if she wants to erase her memories again? 😭 the whole prospect would probably catapult her into apoplexy! she’s probably leveling buildings while wailing and bawling, she’d be so upset by the very idea. she’d be so adamantly against it you’d hear her yelling from like ten blocks away. it’d be the rage of the century. literally she’d be yelling “NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!!!” and be quite hysterical about it, lol!

Lavinet: I think she’s 50/50, if MC was really serious about it and wanted to do it, I think she’d be pretty scared about it all (like “oh shit, MC genuinely thinks this is over, wtf”) and she might go along with the procedure just to experience some final happiness before everything came to an end. Or she might not, I think MC’s demeanor would influence hers fairly heavily in this regard!

Blade: it’s either a loaf of bread (safest option in his mind, goes with any meal, staple grain, a solid and nutritious foundation for any party) or the dressed and butchered carcass of something he personally hunted himself. There is no in-between

Trouble: he stopped by a deli or something similar and picked up a chicken pot pie, or a roast turkey or a rotisserie chicken, or something of the sort! He’s a main dish kind of guy!

Tallys: she’s probably bringing either a big salad she made herself or the vegetable side dishes, roasted sweet potatoes or glazed carrots or what have you, or maybe a fruit and cheese platter! She’s got to round out this nonsense lol

Shery: all the desserts! She’s bringing platters of holiday cookies (at least 6 different varieties, for all of the different flavor preferences present), cinnamon rolls, probably a cake too!

Riel: he stopped by a famous patisserie and picked up their most expensive chocolate gateau or platters of some fancy pastry like profiteroles or something!

Chase: he 100% supplied the alcohol for this potluck. Just a ton of booze or homemade punch. Whether he also brought every chip variety he could find at the store or ordered some pizza depends on the vibe of the potluck lol

Red: he made a valiant attempt of either bringing a charcuterie board (whether pre-assembled or homemade depends on how forgetful he was that week), or, if he was feeling really ambitious, like a pasta salad or a tray of slightly sad-looking Italian sliders or little sandwiches or something!

Ayla: she’d bring something easy, like chips and probably a spicy elote dip or something similar that she just threw together into a big bowl, or like a trail mix/chex mix sort of snack bowl, you know, with pretzels and chips and nuts and things!

Briony: she also brought a dip–I imagine her doing a hot baked dip like a crab rangoon dip with wonton chips–and an easy dessert, like chocolate chip cookie bars with a cream cheese layer in the middle!

Lavinet: a bottle of wine and a store-bought veggie tray, darling. She’s a disaster in the kitchen, you don’t want her bringing anything else 💅🏼

Halek: you fools. you don’t know how long he’s prepared for this. he’s not a potluck participant, he’s an independent caterer. He brought five courses: deviled eggs and vol-au-vents for hors d'oeuvres, an elevated salad, cioppino or lobster bisque for soup, moussaka or coq au vin for the main, and berry trifle for dessert!

I think it depends on the MC! Red was pretty set on his own projects and explorations after school, so if MC also had their own ventures they wanted to pursue, they probably would have done a long-distance relationship while they figured their young adulthood and newfound independence out! If MC was okay with accompanying Red/“tagging along” on his own research expeditions, then they may not have gone their separate ways–I think it just depends on the MC! And, of course, if they were still around when the whole Archmage thing happened, it would have been up to them if they wanted to stick around and help out at the Circle and help Red with his new role, or not!

Whether the events of ShoH would still even happen is up for debate. If you’ve gotten through Chapter 7 and 8, I think it’s safe to say events might still have found a way to transpire–there’s nothing to say that Red and MC wouldn’t have eventually made their way to Haven, the greatest capital that the Mages ever had, for one reason or another. Or that they wouldn’t have decided to bring the Circle there, or that Blade + co. wouldn’t have stumbled across them when they started to deal with the Quiial problem. MC probably would have just figured out how to use their Words of Power in a different order, in that case!
