Throughout Percy Shelley's brief and passionate life, he surrounded himself with many fascinating friends and acquaintances. This group of poets, writers, style-makers and great thinkers is often refereed to as The Shelley Circle.
This livejournal community was created for people who are interested in The Shelley Circle so we can share ideas and information about this fascinating group of people which includes close companions such as Mary Shelley, Lord Byron, Leigh Hunt and Thomas Love Peacock - as well as further (and sometimes vague) associations such as John Keats, S. T. Coleridge, Madame de Stael, Beau Brummell, etc. Besides poetry, literature and art, members are also encouraged to discuss historical, social and political topics of interest.
Students, independent researchers, admirers and likeminded individuals are welcome to join. Voyeurs and lurkers are tolerated, but all members are encouraged to participate in conversations that take place within the community. Flaming is not tolerated, but lively debates and discussions are. If you would like to post images please use the lj-cut tag. And last but not least, there are many poetry and writing communities on livejournal, but this is not one of them. If you would like to share your writing or art with the community please post a link to your private journal where you can freely post your work and members of The Shelley Circle can visit your personal livejournal if they are interested and wish to comment.
