Got this email today:
"Hi Cynthia,
This may be an unusual request but I hope it is something that you can help me with. I am a real art lover and romantic so when it comes to my anniversary I combine both and always try to find something unique that can be treasured for a lifetime. I have found iron and copper jewellery from Louisiana, ceramic decoupage hearts from New Zealand, I think you get the picture. It will be our 12th anniversary in mid June and the material used to celebrate this year is silk.
I've just found your self portrait entitled 'stop and smell the vibrancy' and I thought it was captivating and stunningly beautiful! So here is the request, would you be interested in creating a portrait from a photo with fabrics and silks? I'm thinking of a picture from our wedding day that may include the bouquet for colour and a maximum 12x12". Sorry, I'm getting into the details but thought I'd give you an idea of what I'm after.
So if you are interested in helping a hopeless romantic then please let me know, I really hope you are. Oh, by the way, I'm based in England so there will be a timezone difference when we communicate.
Yours in hopeless anticipation,
Adrian Fielding"
Here is the work they reference. Not sure if they saw on EBSQ, flickr an random image search or my site.
Since I haven't been in my studio in forever, and haven't worked in it for probably 2+ years... I sent them a nice email back to say sorry. I don't think it is a scam, but if I was actively making art, i would still move forward with some trepidation due to the foreign country aspect. And the possibility that it might be a scam. If they are legit I hope they find someone to make their art. Sounds like a sweet idea. Infact. I might try to do something like it for my parents 50th wedding anniversary which is december 2015.
Speaking of, They are taking the whole family to Hawaii for their anniversary in december. So next christmas/new year's break I will be in the sand and sun. Maybe an extra incentive to get back in shape!
Cosmo is doing great, fitting in and learning lots of stuff. Today i took him to the off leash park with Frankie and it was a rousing success.
