I just bought a new tankini last weekend, so i took pics in it. A front, side and back. I am going to take some again just before the May 2-4. (its a BIG long weekend beer-a-thon up here, and my friends and i always go to the cottage or camping) I am really going to focus on toning and firming up my butt, thighs and arms between now and then. And I promise that i will post a comparison at that time. Im going to start swimming atleast once a week (i found out there is a ladies swim in the morning MWF & Sun...right across the street!) and continue with the cross ramp, the bike, and the rowers at the gym once or twice a week, and then bellydancing and pilates atleast once a week. I think that with all that variety, It wont be hard for me to work out 4-5 times a week at all.. and the different things will keep my body on its toes!
A cold or bad allergies means no amount of butter, cheese or other fat is going to improve the taste of your food. All you're doing is adding fat and calories to your food... for nothing. But you can spice it up with cayenne pepper or hot sauce, which can actually help you to breathe easier and increase the chances you'll regain your sense of taste.
This community has been pretty quiet for a while, and now that it is closed, no one new can join. raye_gets_fit has decided to start another similar community that is now up and running.
this week's challenge is to take action towards your weightloss. tell us how you are taking control of your issues. tell us the steps you have taken so far, and the ones you wish to implement.
extra credit options, post your fav. healthy recipe for our upcoming recipe section.
What have you done recently for your weightloss/shapeover goal??
Honestly... nothing! I've been carefully watching my food intake, though. I've been eating a lot of protein and whole grains, and I've declined the opportunity to have ice cream twice! Instead I had some rice dream last night, which is just as fulfilling, I think.
Exercise has been lacking this week, however. I went on vacation last weekend and came back Monday night... and since then I haven't been able to get back into the swing of things very well. I'm hoping to catch an exercise class this weekend though. Something new like kickboxing. I'll let you know how I like it!
I have had some successes though. I'm feeling a difference in how my clothes feel, particularly my "goal jeans", which are a size 4. I figure I'll fit into those in about 5 lbs, which will be my goal weight, and at that point I think I will be quite comfortable with my weight and will be ready to maintain--for the rest of my life!
What have you done recently for your weightloss/shapeover goal??
my answer is that I joined a gym. there's one right by my work that I can easily go to after work and have some fun. I feel bad because I was quite lazy this past weekend, but once things calm down a bit, my weekends won't be so hellish. the other thing I've done is started playing midfield for my soccer team, my body is definitely working on getting used to it, but it's a good position for me.
I really need to work on my diet. I'm trying, but it is challenging.
Well, more participation would be great. Of course, we can't actually force anyone, so we can only do so much to make that possible... but I'll do my part to try to get people posting! Maybe in addition to challenges, we can have people post recipes... especially those that they got from Shape... and we could put them in the memories! I make a lot of recipes from Shape, so if people are interested, I'll post them and my reviews of them.
what would you like to see changed?
I can't think of anything offhand. Just more participation would be cool.
what would you like to see stay the same?
The weekly challenges. I like them.
what would you like to see more of?
Maybe reviews/discussion of things that people see in Shape? Like, if you try a new exercise or something, post about it and let us know how it was!
Heather: I definitely still want to be a part of the weekly challenges. Let me know if you need any help with anything!
ok, here's the deal, I only want this community to get better and better. so this week's challenge is all about what you would like to see changed. Here's what I'm already thinking of doing: I'm going to update the info page, making it full of knowledge for those just starting their weight loss journeys, I'm going to add resources and tips as well as make past challenges memories.
so here's what I want from you:
how do we make this community better?
what would you like to see changed?
what would you like to see stay the same?
what would you like to see more of?
anything else you want to add that you feel might be beneficial to the community growing in participation?
for those of you that don't post, why don't you post?
the idea is that I'm going to take a couple of weeks to revamp the community, get the ideas flowing as well as get the interest back into it. with the blending of summer into fall I have a feeling more people will want to join in, but until then, I'd like to see answers from you all. mostly because I need to know what to do to keep this community functioning.
I also need volunteers for making up the weekly challenges. if you are interested in being on this list, please respond so that when the real challenges start up again, we're ready to go.
So I'm late with this, but I figured that I'd do it anyway. :)

If you had a friend wanting to get into fitness, but complained that it was too boring and painful, what advice would you give: You've got to find something that you LIKE. If you don't enjoy it, you're not going to keep it up! And besides, why would you continue doing something that you don't enjoy?
How do you keep your own fitness regimine fun: I try to vary it up. If I start getting bored, I'll try new machines at the gym, or try new combinations of speed/resistance. I also always work out with music; sometimes some new music will really make me go!
what else would you like this community to know about you or your journey in fitness: It hasn't been easy for me to work on losing "the last 10". I've been trying for a while now, and I've had my ups and downs. But I'm not giving up! And neither should you! :)
Just wanted to let you guys know I'm leaving the community. Thank you all for your support while I was active here, and good luck with your fitness goals! I know you'll all kick some butt. :D
