Ivan who was able to pluck birds flying 6 feet up. Now Ivan can barely jump up to that printer on top of chair. He used to wake me in morning by leaping from top of 8 feet high cupboard to land on bed just inches from my face. I got terrified what if he misjudge? I was ugly enough as it was without him making it worse. He would continue to do that leap until I got out of bed. Now he stick his cold cold nose to my nose or stick a claw up my nose. He could barely get up the bed and no way he could leap up that cupboard now. Members there expressed sympathies for Ivan and urged me to get him to a vet. I had to tell them “ Ivan is 20 years old now, and I taking poetic license with my words too.” I just found some photos of Ivan taken in mid 2011 (actually Feb 2011 and taken on diffferent days )when to amuse himself, he loved to leap from the top of cupboard to the bed. The alarm today set to 9 30 am , and snooze every 15 minutes. I set back the alarm. And I woke before the alarm. And aided by Princess. Lousy dream I could recall and terrible dream I did not want to remember I remembered too well. Not like other day. To be in a terrible lucid dream. A dream that involved with death and passing on which I rather forget and not write or talk about. I got to accept good beautiful lucid dreams cannot be remembered when you do get up. Boring dreams can be remembered but not the good ones. And bad terrible dreams can be remembered but you rather not remember and just forget. And even if you do remember when you woke up, the memory of the dreams faded very rapidly away. I had my 3 in 1 coffee. I know I should have just 2 in one coffee. But in reality, I did not have the coffee as I had to do my blood glucose checking, and therefore only got to drink the coffee later when I finished with the Vorna rituals. Which was why you noticed I sometimes mixed up the non photoing of mash. And remember that I do the preparation for my breakfast first. Last few days I was giving 20 grams in morning to Vorna. She ate that all to my delight. And then Vorna barely pecked in the mash, so I reverted to 10 grams, and adding more if she ate more. 72 grams Vorna mash shot today, at 9 12 am . This from yesterday 1st baggie of end May 2025 batch of Tinkerbell Vorna mash. I got lots of new mash, I think I will revert back to 10 grams of mash for Vorna in the morning. And top that up should Vorna chomp on the mash instead of seeing the mash going to waste like the last few days. I use the new scale accurate to 0.1 gram. But I be rounding to nearest gram instead 12 grams kitty mash . shot at 9 13 am . Then added puree to 15 grams I am reverting to the old style of feeding Blackie. I got lots of those puree sachets bought to mix Princess oral meds prior to syringing that into her mouth. And a waste not to use them up as that cost me a pretty penny. I gone in to wish Vorna good morning a minute later and lifted the blackout cloth from her cage . You noticed the way I holding the step up stick. Not at the handle, but halfway up the stick. Well within strike from Vorna’s jaw if she so chose to strike. I slowly taking my chances that Vorna gone past the stage of whacking me to hurt. She gave me a fright a many times. She lunged at me and I thought she going to hurt me badly. But turned out she was doing parroty joke at my expense . Parroty jokes not for the faint hearted. But what can I say. Vorna decide when she be doing her first poop of the day and who am I to gainsay her. I gave thanks to my sweet Goddess Procrastinatia even if I not be able to have the vicarious pleasure in seeing Vorna poop her enormous first poop of the day outside the cage. Do recall last month there was a period of time when she already discharged her gigantic first poop of the day as early as 7 45 am when I went to her. I felt need to hurry to get her to the swing perch . As happened before, she pooped while on step up stick and about to take her from cage. But you recalled there had been times I lifted the blackout cloth before 8 am and Vorna already did that enormous first poop of the day in the cage. I do have vicarious pleasure in seeing her poop on the swing perch. But if not to be, just too bad. Which was why you seen me writing many times that it is impossible to set your watch using her first big poop as time marker and to set the watch by . I opened the cage door. I was very watchful this time ready for any eventualities. I decided against putting my hand in for her to step up on. You all understand I will not be sticking my hand into the cage for Vorna to step up on. Or to transfer Vorna into cage on my hand either. That chomp on my hand healed long ago. When the healing in my mind also done, I might reconsider again. But one day I got to stick my hand in for her to step up. To give her the chance to show she not chomp on me even if she had a bad dream. Or to reiterate to her chomping on me is very very bad and earn her BAD GIRL BAD BAD GIRL. I used the step up stick instead. She got up nicely on the stick. But at times, she be biting the stick very viciously. Quite unnerving to watch. But I am no longer holding step up stick at the handle. I holding it on the coiled up rope area, nearer and nearer to Vorna day by day. I hope and pray Vorna not chomp on me. I took her to the swing perch as routine in morning. And she went through the entire ritual religiously. Squatting on perch and then wriggling and shaking her bum and the discharge. Of a humoungous load of the first poop of the day. And gave me exquisite vicarious pleasure in watching her doing her ritual of first gigantic poop of the day. Which got a tissue paper on top of that splat . Gave her beak rub, offered sunflower seeds as reward but she took the seeds. I used the step up stick to get her back into the cage. I declined to use my hand.
But I am no longer holding step up stick at the handle. I holding it on the coiled up rope area, nearer and nearer to Vorna day by day. I hope and pray Vorna not chomp on me. In the morning, sometimes she would chomp on the step up stick sisal rope very fiercely and viciously. And a few weeks back, on my hand that I rescued because my reflexes still good. And no point to take the risk in pretense that Vorna not ever chomp on me. Unlike Tinkerbell and Riamfada that I know deep in my heart will not chomp on me, Vorna quite different. And then I did my blood glucose check with Accu-chek. And then I made my 3 in 1 coffee. I transfered her back into the cage. I wished her bon appetit. Place Blackie bowl in usual place. Blackie laid in front of me by washing machine. She not able to jump to my lap as before. I rubbed her nose with my toe. Princess in time will jump to my lap making herself comfortable, But not now. She content to be down at my feet and my toes go to tickle her at her nose. And in time she be going on to behind my head, the better to peer and leer at the pigeons outside. Blackie in time be lively and appeared to be well. And of course, I making my genuflections and prostrations to my sweet Goddess Procrastinatia for her to spread her ineffable blessings over us and the whole world. She was called Bimbo as she was a beautiful cat, the most beautiful cat I had and the most stupid cat of all the cats and 2 sandwich short of a picnic. Commerical cat food promised 7% animal protein and 3% fat. The rest are fillers adding nothing or little to dietary benefit for the cat, Blackie liked salmon. But I a creature of habit. You recalled at one time I despaired at Vorna ever doing volitional flights instead of remaining as statue on perch. That fear totally gone as Vorna doing all kinds of voltional flights and much more active. I think her metabolism more geared up as well. You seen in the past records Vorna taking about 4 to 5 to 6 grams a day. Then there were days she did not eat any mash. African grey can regulate their own intake very well. There were times when me and my wife had to leave Riamfada for a few days. Left her lots of mash and sunflower seeds. She never would over eat. So unlike that of Libai the Greater Green leaf song bird, and Jackie the Indian hill mynah. Her choice to do that in morning, or evening, or even at night. Vorna back to room and her cage.
I refried my cha tau kway with more prawns and bacon and meaty goodies and egg for my dinner Lights out for Vorna See photo of Vorna mash. 69 grams. She had 3 grams Vorna had 18 grams yesterday and just 3 grams today I be reverting to 20 grams Vorna mash for Vorna, topping up the mash if so necessary. So you noticed the pattern. There were days when Vorna hardly ate and days when Vorna ate a lot . I decided Blackie be given an average of 22 grams daily. Some days might be less, and some days might be more. No need to give her 20 gm + 20 grams as she seemed to be satisfied with about 22 grams.
I think you all know how much I love Blackie, and that no way will I ever want to starve Blackie. But from time to time, might give her less as I do not think giving her same amount of food all the time is good for her. 888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 the making of Blackie Mimi Mash on 15 Oct 2024 , and the photos detailing the making can be seen in https://www.facebook.com/shanlung/… 2 X 500 grams of minced pork 300 + 300 +300 grams of minced beef 3 packs of chicken hearts 3 packs of chicken liver & hearts 300 grams of ikan bilis (dried anchovies) 100 grams of wheat grass 400 grams of Snappy Tom wet food (as commercial cat food got all kinds of taste stuff inside to entice kitties to eat.
The chicken liver & hearts got blended by blender with chicken hearts. The Mimi Mash got broken up into big pot. The wheat grass got cut into bits and added The pork and beef all got mixed into the pot And the 300 grams ikan bilis got all mixed up.
And lots of elbow grease and fingers kneading and squeezing and squeezing and mixing them all together. And into baggies and boxes
