Has it really been this long since a post?

I am in transition.
I spent time in NC.
I have spent time in Denton with Chris at his apartment.

No lease. No ties, for the most part.

No hours at work, either.

I owe some people some money.
and I need to get by for myself.

Entirely discouraged that I cannot stay in school.
Purchased some books pertaining to anatomy, surgery, diagnostics, etc.
Perhaps learning on my own will keep me from being sad.

Maybe I will move to NYC.
For a month or so.
Live on other's couches.

Chris will be missed.
a lot.
He and I have been in transition lately.
This love is difficult; but it's real.

I'm difficult. I like to try to stay real.
Quite a mess, actually.

Eager. Empathetic. Sometimes depressed these days.
Sentimental geek.

Loved nonetheless.
and seeking progress...

...in the stillness and praise for life that is my own breath.

this one's about Kacie

Well, she did it. They did it.

My best friend Kacie is now a married lady. :)

I spent a week with her in Omaha before the big day.

She had to fund the whole thing herself and I couldn't be prouder.
I told her she and Gabe should write a book about how inexpensive weddings CAN be.
Her mantra, "Basically Ally, you just gotta take the name "wedding" of of EVERYTHING."

Buying her wedding dress for her was one of the nicest things I have ever done. She called me crying one night after her mother basically disowned her for getting a tattoo. If anyone knows Kacie, or at least what I have said about her, this girl deserves the world and any mother would be lucky to call her 'daughter.'

Our bridesmaid dresses were from Delia's...about $40 bucks a pop. I procrastinated and got mine for $15. That worked out I guess.

The location was at a retreat in Omaha, admist huge trees, hills, and marvelous fields. I wanted to photograph so bad. She had a friend shoot the wedding and it turned out beautiful. Her husbands mothers made all the food and cakes.

We hung jars from the trees with tealights in them, hung paper lanterns, and carried bouquets that we made.

Kacie looked amazing.

my favorite. mostly due to kacie and i in the background.

My dear friends,

Visiting my livejournal.com friends list feels like coming home sometimes.
Out here in TX, not many people have an LJ...that I have added at least.
It's kind of nice to have it solely reflective of my loves on the East coast.

Miss you...as always.

Keep your heads up...

Ally

I'm so busy working and saving the world I never have time to update anymore! Eeeeep!

I spent time in Chicago the other weekend. Seeing CT and other NC friends in their amazing warehouse of a flat. Then I partied with my mom, haha, that was pretty great.

There's a party next month that my friends are throwing...just got a call from an alcohol sponsor. Haha, legit. Maybe even have a hot tub VIP room? Weirddddd! Too MTV real world bullshit for me...maybe, haha.

Taylor and I got into this one club in Dallas that was all fratties and barbie dolls. With my ripped tights and her great estate-sale dress, we were pretty amazing. Especially when we went crazy when the DJ blended Joy Divison and some rapper, and no one knew what was going on.

I'm deciding whether or not I'm going to continue working for texasenvironment.org and add on a aide job waitressing. The drive to Dallas is just so long.

Towning and friends were in town earlier this month. Good seeing them too. Wow, what a great month for visiting people and having people visit!

I'm gonna get back to working on my briefing for tomorrow's staff meeting. Bleh.

xoxo

ps.

love to the mother!

We'll see what happens.

Acting in 2 films this weekend. As an extra in one film, and the other is the last Zombie Christ day.
Working today, and I usually don't work fridays. Oh wells.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Miss ya'll!

electronics recycling

We are all either electronic/technology savvy or just own electronics.

Although my job is community-based lobbying for certain environmental issues, and I don't want to get too "soap-boxy," I think it is important you all take a look at this.

The EPA estimates that the number of obsolete consumer electronics sold between 1980 and 2007 is 235 million; a total weight of 2.25 million tons. Where are these 235 million units now? Only 18% were recycled. Everything else is in landfills. It's just isn't logical to fill up a landfill with shit that can be re-used. The worst part is that toxins (lead, mercury, flame retardants, and the like) from these electronics can seep into the soil and ground water, posing serious health and environmental risks. Dang.

Believe it or not, there are a TON of places to take your electronics to recycle them. It's best to take them to places that will recycle them RESPONSIBLY. Too many claim to recycle and the electronic products just end in landfills anyway, incinerated, or sent overseas. (Anyone see that 60mins episode? Apparently the lead that was in our toys over Christmas came from the lead extracted from the electronics we dumped in other countries).

Most places you can take your electronics to will reward you. IE discount on your next Apple product, gift card etc

haha, Ronnie

On Psychology:

"Freud this, Skinner that..."

"They're not called unicorns, they are called Rhinercerouses...Rhinoceri...Rhinocerees...you know."

"Behaviorism is funny? It's all really funny. It's all material for jokes. You should take a Psych class for your comedy routine. Freud actually had two nasal surgeries cause it was believed among his circle of buddies that it would improve his libido. He prescribed cocaine to people with hysteria. It's like studio54."

"Coincidentally, it's the reason the Challenger blew up."

I love my roommate Ronnie.
