This site is pretty much Twitter but for artists, it's not really too special.
"But Lee, why are you suddenly using this random art social?"
Good question, it's mostly just because of uhm. DeviantArt. Basically, I have been getting tired of how a lot of it's userbase tends to behave, it's especially annoying when you are in a community where it would host lots of kids and...You know the sites stereotype, right? Seriously as someone who mainly started hanging out in Powerpuff Girls fan art spaces, I have seen and (unfortunately) interacted with people who I feel like could rival Loud House fans. This genuinely drained my mental health at some points, which sucks because I did indeed LOVE being in those spaces, just without those types of people.
Besides, it is also not helping that DeviantArt's staff is terrible. The websites art group feature was one of my favorite parts about it but now they managed to make those harder to actually view in an attempt to...Make them easier to view?? Yeah I don't know. Plus I have had one of my mutuals get banned off the site for criticizing how stupid their idea to make downloading art a premium feature, and they weren't the only ones who get banned because of that. However they did get unbanned shortly after, super unprofessional... I did post my reaction to my mutual getting temporarily banned to DA, pretty much the next day I was logged out of my account on all devices. To my knowledge I was not hacked at all, and it was easy to log back in but this was VERY suspicious.
It is also not helping that the moderation is. ASS! Come on, no wonder why so much downright CREEPY content/"people", total jerkwads, and scammers run free on DA.
With my issues out of the way, I could just primarily use Newgrounds now but to be honest it just feels a lil too professional for my taste. The only reason why I made an account on here was just in case if that YouTube AI age verification update would screw over my channel entirely anyways.
However, Cara just feels boring to use too but at least I have a place to post my art all willy-nilly without being in a cesspool, I have been posting my newer stuff there. The main boring part for me is that I hadn't really found much artists that draw in my preferred tastes and still post to the site yet. (Mostly seen cutesy pastel stuff, realism, and medieval fantasy. Theres not really much when it comes to fandom-related things I like too.) Not to mention that the site is still in beta along with it having a relatively small userbase. Though Cara also is run by people who actually care about their users and there's not even much ""weird"" art to accidentally come across.
So yeah, that is what my current situation is with using a new art platform along with my own opinions in regards to it. This isn't saying that I am leaving DeviantArt BTW, I am still using it but less and I did recently take a small break from it too. I just needed a bit of a substitute for it lol, and also Cara prevents me from art doom scrolling too.
