I don’t think I fully realized just how many kids are being straight up emotionally neglected by their parents until I had tiktok (deleted it a while ago but still) like there is absolutely no way that a 12 year old who is getting the appropriate amount of attention at home is going to be on tiktok unsupervised for 10 hours a day talking about how they have 70 different very rare mental illnesses and 600 different genders. like I saw kids who claimed to have such severe dissociative identity disorder that they have over a thousand different anime characters living in their head

eve-was-framed

also I hope everyone eventually realizes how fucking gross and creepy it is that grown adults online are making these kids even more unwell by convincing them that their parents are transphobic and ableist for not affirming all of their different made up genders and their 10000 different self-diagnosed disorders. every adult who does this needs to be put on a watch list and im not kidding

eve-was-framed

this is a great point actually - it is 100% normal for kids that age to have phases where they just simply lie for fun. I had a friend in 7th grade who completely unironically tried to convince us that she was a vampire and had a werewolf boyfriend from texas who died by running into a tree, now we both just laugh about it but if she would’ve posted all of that online and had a bunch of grown adults telling her “actually you are a vampire and anyone telling you you’re not is a nazi and wants to genocide you” then that could’ve possibly derailed her entire life

And even without the outside validation this new version of lying is both much less interesting than claiming to be a vampire/werewolf/alien/witch/fairy, and a lot more concerning. Being a vampire is impossible and cool, having a mental illness is possible and it sucks. And online it can become contagious.

Teens have literally developed tics from tiktok (yes, really). Disproportionately girls and trans identified teens...

"The adolescents were overwhelmingly girls, or were transgender or nonbinary — though no one knows why."

No one knows why teen girls would be particularly vulnerable to this, not like being a teen girl in a patriarchal, hypersexualized and pedophilic society is horrifically stressful! No one knows why teens who are susceptible to one form of social contagion would also be susceptible to another!

DID claims in particular seem like a loneliness thing, like a lot of kids don't have many irl friends so they've made up friends who live in their heads.

Plenty of these kids probably do have mental illnesses, just not all of the ones they're claiming, and if they don't to start with, being immersed in that culture will give them one.

Girls are raised to be more social than boys; social contangions always effect girls disproportionately. DID, hypochondria, and tics from social media fit right in with that.

“It’s virtually unheard of for an abusive man to make substantial lasting changes in his pattern of abusiveness as a result of therapy … In fact it typically gets worse, as he uses therapy to develop new excuses for his behaviour, more sophisticated arguments to prove that his partner is mentally unstable, and more creative ways to make her feel responsible for his emotional distress.”

When my dad went to therapy, not only did he not become less abusive, but instead he used the fact that his therapist agreed with him that my mom was ~The Root Of All EvilTM~ as an argument in fights.

The most recent scoping review on BDSM (Brown et al., 2020), claims there is nothing sexist about it while also stating the majority of dominants/sadists are men.

To acknowledge the majority of men are sadists and the majority of women are masochists, while simultaneously denying the role of sexist power dynamics, is intellectually dishonest. What other possible reason could there be for this disparity?

The lead author of this paper is a woman, Ashley Brown. She is throwing all women under the bus by normalising and legitimising BDSM. To state BDSM is not sexist, harmful, or abusive in academic literature is putting women’s lives at stake.

How are women supposed to speak out about the misogyny and abuse of the BDSM community, when ‘official’ academic findings will be used to discredit this argument?

Kinksters infiltrating academia to push their agenda is nothing new. They love to claim research shows BDSM isn’t caused by trauma, when it’s literal kinksters carrying out the research. When you look at masochism/submission separately, the research does show it is caused by trauma (Selic & Jug, 2025; Abrams et al., 2022; Abi-Habib et al., 2025). Of course when you look at it in totality, these results will be obscured, as you don’t need trauma to be a sadist, you just need to be a misogynistic man.

bdsm is abuse

u-eat-people-ur-a-people-eater

what does this do besides traumatize the daylights out of women who have had abortions against their will or regret it while simultaneously giving the insane men who want women to be forced to die of pregnancy ammunition to claim that the average women is a murderous weirdo toward her own children? I get being angry about the state of things but this doesn’t communicate anything about what’s going on or what to do about it. It feels like troon humor because it does nothing but hurt women in the long run in order to make an extremely lazy/bad joke that benefits right-wing men and their inceldom. I’m not trying to fight but I feel strongly about this.

Hey women who’ve had abortions actually like making jokes about it sometimes. Me personally it helped me cope a lot and made me feel more normal about the whole thing. I want more women making jokes instead of assuming we all regret it. I don’t regret aborting that thang one bit and I love joking about it. So different strokes for different folks!

learnedmyspots

I personally know people who felt like abortion wasn’t an option and didn’t even really consider it possible for their lives, mainly because it wasn’t talked about or widely spcially acceptable. And that permanently altered the course of their life forever, introducing a higher level of difficulty for decades. I think posts like this do a lot to let women know that the public supports abortion and supports their right to make that choice. That it’s normal, and low stakes, and not a big deal. That’s what it does.

because people have flipped out two recent posts of mine i feel like tumblr should remember it’s actually fine to acknowledge non-white, non-western countries can also have misogyny/political corruption/religious extremism. like I know a lot of young liberal Americans try to overcorrect for our conservative government but acting like Saudi Arabia or India are baby countries entirely full of morally pure, simple people is actually playing into the Noble Savage stereotype and not the anti-imperialist flex you think it is
