It's been a really weird summer, fandom-wise.

I'm normally really monogamous when it comes to fandoms? Like, I can't really have more than one proper fandom at a time, and by fandom I mean something I'm reading fic in, and I usually stick with each fandom for a while (a while means at least three months, usually).

But this summer I started out with Homestuck, read some fics, then I dipped back into Avengers fandom for while to check out the Tony/Bruce/Pepper since I hadn't had the chance to read any fic since the movie came out.

Then I decided to watch Teen Wolf the week before the season finale. So in the few days in between catching up on Teen Wolf and the season finale airing, I read some Teen Wolf fic, and I had the urge to write some, too. Mostly Erica/everyone and Lydia/Jackson, my OTP of the show. But then the day the season finale was airing, a friend came over to my place and we marathoned KAT-TUN concerts...

She told me last month that she had recently got into KT, and I was like OMGGGGG FEELINGS AKAME!!!!!! and Kame is also her fave so we spent dinner wailing over the perfect tragedy that is Akame and she said it was a bit hard to find KT's older stuff so I offered to give her all my KT concert DVDs (which I've now done, and I also gave her all my JE shop photos as well as my QoP con photobook, so I am... without KT merch now, basically), and then I suggested that she come over to mine and watch all of them before I gave them to her, so that's what happened???

We watched Kaizokuban, Real Face, cartoon KAT-TUN II you, and Queen of Pirates in one day, which took from 9am till 11pm. It was SO MUCH FUN BUT SO EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTING, because Akame is probably my OTP in the truest sense, by which I mean that if I had to choose one pairing that I love the most, of all my ships from all the fandoms I've ever been in, it would have to be Akame. That night and the whole of the day after I felt like crying all the time and I was overwhelmed by an urge to start writing Akame fic again and any Teen Wolf feels I might have had before just abandoned my mind completely, but I thought it was gonna be like summer of 2010 when I just wrote the fic without really touching the fandom again. But I was wrong. I didn't write any fic in the end, but I caught up with fandom??? By which I mean I've seen all the major stuff I've missed since I left fandom late in 2008. So all the PVs and PV makings since One Drop, and the two concerts (BTR and NMP-- actually I still have a bit of NMP left but I'm saving it for when I need something to cheer me up), and also all eps of cartoon KAT-TUN season 3 (... but not season 2 because season 2 is just as boring as I remember it being). I've also watched most of the gonin perfs I can find.

And I'm keeping up with current fandom stuff, and I intend to carry on doing so for a while yet. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE CHAIN CONCERT DVD, please omg I hope it's released in time for Christmas so I can buy it as a present for myself aksjdkfjdkfj. I've also found a new OTP, since as much as I love Akame it's kind of painful to keep going in the fandom without shipping Kame with someone else.

So, er, my new OTP is Kame/Nakamaru, because Kame JUST TOUCHES NAKAMARU ALL THE TIME SO CASUALLY AND CALLS HIM XIAOLONGBAO WHICH IS THE CUTEST NICKNAME EVER AND SAYS THINGS LIKE "WHAT IF I KISSED YOU AND SAID I WAS SERIOUS" AND NAKAMARU REALLY LIKES KAME'S VANILLA SCENT AND I CAN'T FUCKING RESIST THINGS LIKE THAT OKAY.

They are ridiculous and adorable and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH but there's not enough good fic of them in the fandom. ):

But KAT-TUN fandom is super great, especially Kame fans. KAME FANS ARE THE BEST. T__T God I've missed this fandom so much, and seeing people flail over KT again is like coming home. I'm still only lurking in fandom, haven't spoken to anyone yet, but I hope to do that soon!

I AM GOING TO WRITE SOME KAME/NAKAMARU SOON OKAY.

And also maybe some Akame because fucking reincarnation themes in the BTR album (MOON & WATER DANCE, jesus christ what perfect songs and also obvs Kame's 1582 solo performance was the most breathtaking thing ever), and just themes of enduring love and the relationship between death and love, love and pain, akjsdkjfkdjf I CAN'T. Reincarnation is pretty much one of my favourite tropes ever. I WANT AKAME FIC WHERE KAME AND JIN BOTH BROOD OVER THE CONCEPT OF REINCARNATION. T__T

Need to find some KT icons again. T__T

F-LIST IS ANYONE WATCHING BOMB GIRLS?

It's a really, really awesome new Canadian TV mini-series about women working in a munitions factory in WW2. There have been four episodes out so far. Why should you watch it? Well, these two posts explain better than I can, but to sum up:

It has tough, interesting and gorgeous women who are central to the storyline, it passes the Bechdel test frequently, and it has a lot of queer subtext (which I'm praying will become text soon).

It is the BEST.

Just go watch it. (If you don't live in Canada and don't want to pay for the episodes on iTunes, here are some links.)

I am really disappointed that there isn't much of a fandom for it yet, but I mean, it's only been a month since the show started, and there's a wonderful tumblr, an lj comm (bomb_girls), and a fic meme with a couple of fills (bomb_girls_meme). I'm planning on writing some fic myself, but I'm busy with school and with working on fills for my Steve/Tony bingo. I'd love to flail about this show with someone, though! So please, please give it a go? :D

A GROWN UP FAIRYTALE;

So, I thought I wasn't gonna post until after my exams were mostly over, but I couldn't resist. My first History exam was this morning and I think it went okay, but my second one's on Thursday morning and DNW. ):

OKAY SO CAN SOMEONE WHO'S WATCHED THOR COME FLAIL WITH ME? T___T

I watched Thor on Sunday. I know, my exams started on Monday. I went and watched Thor the day before my exams. And oh my god, when I came back from Thor all I could think was GO AND READ ALL THE THOR/LOKI FIC EVER and I was so hopelessly distracted for a while, but thankfully the movie fandom is still absolutely tiny. Aside from the kink meme, which I haven't had the chance to explore yet, there's hardly any goodfic.

But with Thor also came the Captain America trailer and the reminder that next year, we'll get The Avengers. And can I just make a prediction now? The Avengers is probably going to be my Fandom of the Year 2012. I'm not even kidding, I am so ridiculously excited for this thing. I feel terrible because I don't actually read the comics and I should get on that, maybe this summer or something, but oh my god. CAN YOU IMAGINE The Avengers? ALL THE SLASH POTENTIAL OH MY GOD nnngh. *___* Steven Rogers/Tony Stark is already a Thing in the comics fandom, I know. I can't wait to ship it.

Also? Normally I would not be into a guy like Chris Hemsworth but goddamn he was hot. Like. I legit swooned in his shirtless scene. Tom Hiddleston as Loki, however, was more like my normal type and yes, there were stars in my eyes every time he appeared on the screen. Every time. I need to rewatch Thor so badly. Oh god, the whole cast of this movie, what the hell. I have SO MANY FEELINGS. (NATALIE PORTMAN. Okay, I thought I would be watching this film to swoon over her but for some reason ALL THE MEN APPEARED AND I WAS LIKE OH OKAY THIS IS AN UNEXPECTED SWING TOWARDS HETEROSEXUALITY.)

DON'T KNOW HOW I WILL DEAL WITH ALL THE HOTNESS IN THE AVENGERS NNGHHHHH RDJ. And more Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. And SCARLETT JOHANSSON oh my god I just watched that video where the cast of The Avengers appeared at Comic Con last year and, um, let's just say I really appreciate what Scarlett Johansson is wearing. *___*

And you know what I just discovered? Tom Hiddleston studied Classics. At Cambridge. And got a double first. THIS MAN. THIS MAN. I can't believe how perfect he is.

OKAY RIGHT DOCTOR WHO FIRST WATCH THOUGHTS.

Really really need to rewatch though, pretty sure I didn't catch half of that episode because I was too busy being creeped out.

SO GLAD DOCTOR WHO IS BACK. Although I've quite forgotten how excruciating it is to have to wait a week for episodes, especially with two-parters. This is the reason why I don't watch that much TV.

Although I'm also watching Glee now and there may be a post later about my feelings on Glee because I have quite a lot of feelings on Glee. But since I did say like two weeks ago that I would write posts about books and poetry and I still haven't got round to doing that... :'D I AM SO EXCITED FOR NEXT WEEK'S GLEE. I haven't watched Somewhere Only We Know. I AM KEEPING MYSELF UNSPOILED FOR THIS EPISODE, okay.

(By the time the new Glee ep's here, I'll be back at school in England. I'm flying back Tuesday night. ;__; AND I HAVEN'T DONE ANY STUDYING FOR MY AS EXAMS WHAT AM I GOING TO DOOOO.)

I recently finished my first fic in about half a year. Set Down Your Glass, Harry/Clara, PG-13. It's femslash, which I've dearly missed writing (honestly, I think my last femslash fic was back in... 2007? too long ago, basically). Do please read if you're interested in Harry/Clara! Not enough of that in the Sherlock fandom. ♥

So, er, I've never actually introduced myself to my new friends, and I haven't made a proper post in ages. I've revamped my profile (... again, I swear I design a new profile more often than I write a new LJ post), so you can go check that out, because it's pretty. :') And it pretty much says all you need to know about me: I'm Kaze, I'm geeky, I go to boarding school (in England, but I live in Hong Kong), I'm a bit of an escapist, I'd like to say I love poetry but I don't read enough poems (if I only ever have one new year's resolution, it is this: read more fucking poetry, self).

I'm been back at school for a few days, and it's all right. I don't have too much work yet, so I've spent today doing absolutely nothing, even though I promised myself I would have finished reading Hamlet by the end of the day (... I haven't even started). This was only because I wanted to watch Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, after seeing a gif on tumblr. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

I've started playing Kingdom of Loathing, which is an free MMORPG because I needed something to distract me from school while I wait for new content from Echo Bazaar (which I said I'd write a pimp post for during the holidays, but I never got round to it). KoL has got the most fantastic sense of humour and it's full of pop culture references. It's very different from EBZ but I enjoy both games equally. At this rate, however, I will never get any work done. :')

Tomorrow morning I'll be watching the last episode of the H series of QI! ): But it's got David Mitchell in it, which sort of makes everything better.

Happy new year!

It's 1am over here. I've begun the new year by rewatching scenes from Doctor Who S5 and reading the Doctor Who tearjerker page on TVTropes. (I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.) And crying endlessly over how this show never fails to touch me in some way. I think that's a brilliant way to kick off 2011, don't you?

2010 has been pretty good to me. I think I'm the happiest I've ever been since 2006, which is... quite amazing, actually. Here's to hoping that 2011 is even more spectacular.
