Mohit Sagar shared thisIf the room is sharing voluntarily-we are definitely on the right topic. Thank you all for your inputs.Mohit Sagar shared thisAt a recent OpenGov Breakfast Insight, senior leaders from Singapore’s public sector and enterprises convened to explore a pivotal shift in AI: moving from reactive monitoring to gaining full visibility into autonomous AI behaviour and understanding how intelligent systems make decisions in real time. The discussion highlighted that observability, unified data, AI-powered insights, and agentic automation are now essential for managing complex digital environments. It became clear that technology alone is not enough, success depends on combining tools with governance, trust, and strategic approaches. Moderated by Mohit Sagar (CEO & Editor-in-Chief, OpenGov Asia), the session featured Shabbir Baliwala (Solutions Director, APAC, Dynatrace) and Eng Kiong (EK) Koh (Regional Vice President for ASEAN and Korea, Dynatrace), who shared practical insights on evolving observability, managing system complexity, and building trust in AI-driven operations. The key takeaway was clear: AI observability is no longer just about collecting metrics and logs—it’s about understanding system behaviour, orchestrating interactions, and ensuring reliability and accountability across teams, tools, and processes. The conversation focused on how visibility, observability, AI and agentic automation are becoming essential to turning cloud investments into measurable value. What stood out clearly was that technology alone is not enough. Real outcomes emerge when strong use cases, trusted governance and strategic partnerships come together, enabling organisations to make informed decisions, scale with confidence and remain resilient in an increasingly complex AI-driven environment. Moderated by Mohit Sagar (CEO & Editor-in-Chief, OpenGov Asia), the session featured speakers Aju Murjani (Automation Leader, IBM ASEAN), Rahul Savdekar (Global Business Development, IBM APAC), Kiran Kumar NR (Chief Technology Officer, ASEAN & Korea, Microsoft), and Jordy Mevissen (Worldwide Sales Leader, IBM APAC), who shared practical insights on operationalising AI and automation with visibility and governance at scale. The takeaway was clear: cloud success is no longer about what you deploy, but about how well you can see, orchestrate and govern what is running across systems, teams and journeys. Mohit Sagar liked thisMohit Sagar liked thisA small musical thank-you to the friends and colleagues I met during my Tokyo trip to be a panellist for the 9th International Fiscal Association APAC Regional Conference earlier this week. This is my fingerstyle guitar arrangement of 上を向いて歩こう / Ue o Muite Arukō, known internationally as Sukiyaki. The title means, roughly, “I look up as I walk” — a beautiful reminder to keep moving forward with quiet hope, even through moments of sadness. Grateful for the warm conversations, new friendships and international exchange in Tokyo, Japan. Music, like tax, has a way of crossing borders. I chose to record this piece on my 33-year old Asturias model A8 classical guitar, which I bought from the Yamaha music store in Singapore in 1993. Mohit Sagar liked thisMohit Sagar liked thisMost APAC leaders don’t fail because they can’t sell. They fail because HQ loses patience before the region has time to work. I’ve seen this happen too many times. A strong leader lays the right foundations. Builds the first team, earns market trust, starts shaping pipeline, and closes the first strategic deals. The region is finally gaining traction. Then HQ starts asking questions. “Why is forecast still soft?” “Why are deals taking so long?” “Why is headcount ahead of revenue?” And somewhere around month 12 to 18, pressure starts building. If you’re leading APAC right now, you already know this feeling. The job isn’t just building the business. It’s helping HQ understand a region that behaves very differently from the US or Europe. Enterprise deals here are slower to start. Trust matters more. Decision-making is less linear. And one regional strategy rarely works across every market. That’s not poor execution. That’s APAC reality. Here’s what I’ve seen strong APAC leaders do well: → They educate HQ early Not after problems happen. Before expectations harden. → They report leading indicators, not just closed revenue Pipeline quality. Stakeholder engagement. Expansion conversations. Partner traction. → They explain market differences clearly Japan is not Singapore. Indonesia is not Australia. One APAC number hides very different realities underneath. → They hire carefully, even under pressure One wrong early hire in a new market can set the region back a year. → They manage expectations constantly Because silence creates assumptions. And assumptions create pressure. The companies that succeed in APAC give regional leaders time, trust, and air cover. And the leaders who survive here? They learn to manage up as well as they manage the market. If you’re sitting in this role right now, keep going. A lot of the most important progress in APAC is invisible before it becomes obvious.

Given the number of media stories on cyber attacks in the UK, the National Cyber Security Centre's recent review stating a 50% rise in highly significant attacks shouldn’t come as a complete surprise. During my discussions with cyber security experts and peers, we’ve often spoken about the urgent need for businesses to invest in strengthening their cyber defense. It is not a question of 'if' your organisation will face a cyber-attack but being prepared to deal with it 'when' an attack occurs. The Cybersecurity Business Network's inaugural Parliament & Cyber Conference 2025 (https://lnkd.in/eu8Muarv) has a panel discussion that will dive deeper into the emerging tech and threat landscape as AI and quantum computing continue to reshape how businesses function. It’s important to understand how the UK can strategically navigate this new frontier while understanding both the challenges and opportunities they present.
