SeSa Thoughts

I want to extend my deepest thanks to all of the wonderful authors who participated in DWNOGA this year! And a special thanks to Georgina and Pet for running another successful year! It's been a such a treat to have so many fabulous new stories to read over during my holiday break. I'm as sad about running out of stories as I am about having to return to work in the morning! :)

Anyway, since I'm not an author and therefore don't contribute to the SeSa effort in that way, I figure the least I can do is write feedback. When I saw how many stories there were, I was nervous that I wouldn't have time to get to them all before the big reveal, but it looks like I'll squeak in just before the deadline. Instead of using the feedback option on the SeSa site, I wrote up my thoughts in three LJ posts here, here, and here. I've used an * to indicate my particular favorites, but overall, I thought the caliber of the stories was top notch!

There were only a few stories that I didn't enjoy, but most of the time it was just a function of my personal preferences. I've been honest in pointing out which stories these were, but I don't think I've flamed anyone. If you are an author and are offended in anyway by my comments on your story, please let me know and I will remove my comments immediately. I struggled with whether it was better to comment on every story or just do an rec list, but for better or worse, I decided to include every story because I think most people want the honest feedback.

PS - I'm sorry that there is no clear order to the stories in my post. For the most part the feedback was written in the order I read the stories.

right before the reveal, boo-yah!

Bunches of recs in my journal -- here, here, and here.

I first signed up for DWNOGA when I was a wee popslash neophyte, and every year it's been something I look forward to and enjoy to the fullest (initial request for brian/justin aside, wtf! i could have had ukcalico timbertrick, dammit! *g*) Plenty of kisses and adoration to Georgina and Pet for running this well-mannered madhouse.

My BSB recs

Well, I've done it. I managed to read every fic before the author's reveal, and I want to say, this was a great, great year. I loved the experience, and I really can't wait for next year.

Oh, and the recs are here for the Backstreet Boys recs

I'll probably be doing a real recs post once I finish up with the *NSYNC stories, but I just wanted to take a sec to publicly recommend the story that was written just for me(!), In Control Curious. It's an alternate reality, in which Britney is a member of *NSYNC and Justin has always been a solo artist. The story revolves around Britney, Lance, and Justin, and their dynamics are kind of my favorite thing ever. There are issues of Lance as an outsider, the loneliness of being a solo pop icon, and some really lovely and comfortable Lance/Britney interactions. A really great Chris pokes his head in once in a while, JC is sweet and thoughtful, and there's some just-friends, no-fucking JoLa. Basically, it's everything I could possibly want in a story. It's all the way at the bottom of the *NSYNC pairings page, but please don't overlook it because I think it's really well written and deserves some attention. In Control Curious! Read it! Love it! Thank you, Santa!

SeSa has, as always, been wonderful this year! I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the mods for taking out the time to set up DWNOGA again this year. And to the authors, of course, for writing all these amazing stories!

That said, I've got a couple of SeSa recs at my journal. All Backstreet, but I'm hoping to get a few more in before the authors are revealed. Happy new year!

-> SeSa recs this way.
