"SLEEPING MURDER" (2006) Review

"SLEEPING MURDER" (2006) Review

I might as well say it. The 1976 novel, "Sleeping Murder" is one of my favorites written by mystery writer, Agatha Christie. In fact, it is such a big favorite of mine that when I learned about the recent 2006 adaptation that aired on Britain's ITV network, I made a great effort to find it on DVD. Collapse )

"AN IDEAL HUSBAND" (1999) Review

"AN IDEAL WOMAN" (1999) Review

I have a confession. I have not seen that many adaptations of Oscar Wilde's plays and novels. And it has been quite a while since I viewed my last adaptation, namely the 1999 film, "AN IDEAL HUSBAND". I was surprised to discover that this 1999 movie was not the first adaptation of Wilde's 1895 stage play. There have been other adaptations - including four other films and several radio productions. But this is the only adaptation I have ever seen. Collapse )

"DANIEL DERONDA" (2002) Review

With the exception of the 1994 miniseries, "MIDDLEMARCH", I am not that familiar with any movie or television adaptations of George Eliot's works. I finally decided to overlook my earlier lack of interest in Eliot's final novel, "Daniel Deronda" and watch the television version that aired back in 2002. Collapse )

"THE GOLDEN BOWL" (2000) Review

I have never read any of Henry James' literary works. Never. However, I have seen a few adaptations of his works. Some of them had been adapted by the production team of Ishmail Merchant and James Ivory. Aside from E.M. Forster, they must have been diehard fans of James. They had produced three adaptations of James' novels, including the 2000 film, "THE GOLDEN BOWL". Collapse )
