Comes from a pretty good family, as far as good goes. He started drawing at an early age and while doing very well at school, decided to pretty much 'follow his dreams' and allow himself to enroll at an art school, rather than the prestigious university his family was hoping for him to get into. He graduated with honors and a BFA.
Luck was in his favor and his first manga made it big in a top publishing magazine. His mother, being a fan of josei series, also encouraged him and by the young age of 25, he had published some popular shoujo-ai short series under the pseudonym Kouen. His father was never quite happy with this development, but Sono managed to make it through.
After taking a break from his work for a bit, he decided to take a step in a different direction and took on a teaching course when popular shonen titles increased interest for aspiring manga artists among students and the demand for more art teachers grew. Figuring he could manage it, he offered to lend his services to the cause and that was how he found himself at Evernoir. Now having taught for two years in the school, he believes he's found a comfortable balance between work and passion, and is content to learn more from the students he teaches.
Any special AU notes: He's published ecchi manga, but he did so under a pseudonym for the sake of propriety. Those in the publishing business know of his works, but he won't bring them up in his teaching career, of course.
