I work at a local company and we are having trouble fixing some issues with regards to WordPress. More specifically, we are getting problems when users click on the Google Review widget's link when searching for our official website.Where to click

Upon clicking said link, users are directed to a domain named https://gogogosales.ru/tags/givenchy.

I did not develop the website, but I do have access to the admin panel. I cannot seem to be able to update the website, since I believe it must be done on the server side.

When you hover over the link, it says it takes you to the correct website, but after clicking on it and letting the browser load it, it takes you to that Russian URL.

Was our website compromised by a hacker? If so, how did they do it? Is it like a piece of code that was inserted into our WordPress website and can it be removed or tweaked manually?

We have been getting some spam threatening to release information unless we pay them a certain amount in cryptocurrency. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the URL redirection.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Update: So, I think I've found the solution. A strange plugin was installed on WordPress, and, after deactivating and uninstalling it everything went back to normal. The name of the plugin is "Hello dadcd".

"Was our website compromised by a hacker?" - likely, based on what is happening. "If so, how did they do it?" - this is impossible to say with the information provided. But vulnerable extensions or out of date installations are common with WordPress setups. -- This question is similar to: How do I deal with a compromised server?. If you believe it’s different, please edit the question, make it clear how it’s different and/or how the answers on that question are not helpful for your problem. Commented Sep 26, 2024 at 18:19

You should verify your business on Google: support.google.com/business/answer/2911778 (that is if Google's link is not pointing to your domain... wasn't sure if it was or not...) Commented Sep 26, 2024 at 19:37

Wait, is the URL on Google pointing at a wrong site, or does it point to the correct one but that one redirects to the wrong site? Does the problem also occur for people not visiting via Google but directly? Commented Sep 26, 2024 at 19:59

Did you at least do a search against gogogosales.ru/tags/givenchy on your wordpress directories? Commented Sep 26, 2024 at 23:08

When you hover over the Google link, where does it say it is going? Are you saying your site is hosted on Wordpress.com? Have you checked your DNS records? Have you scanned your code for references to this link? Are your WP plugins all up-to-date? There is some basic technical info that you aren't providing. Are you the web dev?
