There are a number of far more apt cases of parallel thinking than Thanos and Darkseid, since Thanos is noted to be a deliberate rip off of Darkseid, so much that the whole creative process is talked about at length on Thanos' Wikipedia page. Swamp Thing and Man-Thing and the X-Men and the Doom Patrol being the biggest cases (though Swamp Thing and Man-Thing were both inspired by The Heap). There are cases where it's really tough to tell which came first. Thanos and Darkseid ain't it. Thanos was intentionally swiped from Kirby, because why not steal from the best?
