BD Scarsdale Bash

Our Scarsdale bash, Sunday 2nd December 2012...

I'm still in the doldrums over not still being in London (if you see what I mean), perhaps drinking mulled cyder in the Scarsdale, or wandering the V&A, or eyeing the menu at the Blue Anchor... and I was hugging my photos to me, and thinking about which ones to post, and it occurred to me - since this is a locked comm, would people be happy with me posting (in a furtherly-locked post) the pictures with people in them here, so that anyone who'd like to can grab them (for their own non-online use)? I think most people have met in person everyone who's a member of the comm, so we'd only be posting to people we knew were real (again, if you see what I mean! *g*)

And there was fic from the Scarsdale weekend! There was actual sitting around a table on the Monday morning, and writing fic! So much happiness... *g* So far there's been:
Wholesome by Jojo
Whole Foods Lust by Murphybabe
Six Different Fruits by Slantedlight
Last Day of the Holiday by Ladyhawke
Are there any more...? Pleeeeeease? *g* If you don't want to post publically, or to your own lj even, you could post to our comm here, or even just in a comment to this post...? *crosses fingers, holds thumbs, is hopeful of more fic...*

And finally - I think we came to the conclusion that we definitely wanted to do it all again next year, and that the first weekend in December was the best weekend to choose, so... the current plan is for Saturday 7th December 2013, in the Scarsdale pub in Edwardes Square... (I gather this year's Saturday gang have made their own arrangements elsewhere, albeit for the same weekend, so hopefully all will be well!)...and personally I'm all for making our now-traditional weekend of it again too, so... *g*

Accommodation

Hi all,

I found this link today:  http://www.travelzoo.com/uk/uk-hot…

which looks like very good value for money.  I haven't investigated room numbers, or numbers of people in a room, but what do you think?

The trouble with travelzoo, in my experience, is that they put out these wonderful offers which you can never quite manage to book, but it might be worth investigating?

Edited to outline the deal:

Stays in central London usually come at a premium, which is why we were amazed to find this deal for the Corus Hotel Hyde Park. At £79 per room, per night, the offer saves up to 69% on the regular rate and includes:

  • Complimentary upgrade to an Executive Room upon booking** (worth £40)
  • Full English breakfast for two (worth £16.95 per person)
  • Bottle of house wine in the room on arrival (worth £15)
  • 20% discount on food at the on-site Olio's Brasserie and Bel Canto Restaurant

Valid seven days a week from 13 August-30 December.

The 4-star Corus Hotel is set within a 200-year-old Grade II-listed Georgian building overlooking Hyde Park, a short distance from Oxford Street, Knightsbridge and the West End.

Not available on 4-6, 18-19, 25-26 September; 10-11 October; 6-7 November.

Book by 15 August.

Scarsdale Bash 2011... advance planning anyone?

Here's a question, since I seem to remember that booking rooms in London gets much harder the closer to the Scarsdale Bash you leave it...

Who's planning on coming this year? (Saturday 10th December, 2011 - in The Scarsdale, of course... *g*)

And who's planning on staying over the Friday night/for the weekend?
And who might fancy being involved in some grand share-a-room or at least be-in-the-same-hotel affair?

Apologies to members of this comm who have already had this notice from Liz direct.

Suspected Bot in Pros Communities

Hi all,

Following Probodie's post below, I've actually reported the "lj member" as a bot, also deleted the post and marked it as spam, and (at least temporarily) changed membership to "Moderated" in case there's a sudden rash of bots. I've also removed the bot's comm membership, and at CI5hq where it'd also snuck in but not yet posted. I see it's also posted over at Safehouse - hopefully Jaycat and/or KWS will be around shortly...

Please don't "Flag" posts like this, as all that does mark the content as "adult" and hide it from members under 18 - and will possibly also flag the whole community as needing to mark all content, which will be a bugger and won't actually stop kids seeing stuff (all they have to do is lie about their age on the lj sign-up). The problem here isn't that it's "adult content" it's that it's spam and it's most likely an automated "bot" from the number of comms it's joined.

To report a suspected bot: http://www.livejournal.com/abuse/b…
To delete and mark as spam (moderators only): http://www.livejournal.com/support…

(Hopefully the latter two actions are what people have meant when they said they've "flagged" the post, but just in case... *g*) And cheers for the heads-up, people who did! *g*

Arriving at ?

I'm a bit confused after the replies to Ilke's post, about whether we're talking about arriving at the London Guards hotel or at the Scarsdale.

My train arrives at Euston (for my sins) about 11 am. I'll go to the hotel and check in, but by then I expect the rest of you will be heading for the Scarsdale to get there for 12. So I'll make my own way to the Scarsdale if I don't catch you at the London Guards.

Sunday I'm definitely up for west London locations (and lunch!), don't have to leave Euston till about 4pm.
