Uncanny X-Men #232
Sep. 10th, 2025 10:49 amWriter: Chris Claremont
Pencils: Marc Silvestri
Inks: Dan Green
It’s another Brood story, so you know that means tentacles and body horror.

I’m sure Madelyne is getting upset over nothing.

It might seem like the X-Men are harassing an innocent paramedic, but it’s okay because he is one of the Brood hosts.

It turns out Wolverine was right to start carving up random cops. They were Brood too.
Next: All-Star Squadron #7.

Never mind that this is Scott we're talking about, with emotional problems beyond the dreams of analysists or manipulative jerks.
She married him. She should know what he's like.
Besides, they're being written by Louise Simonson. Half the time they can't get through a normal conversation without unnecessary drama setting in.
(Why did the Reavers design their set-up so that punching the screen would make the whole thing explode?)

(This whole plotline was a clusterfuck of writing misfires)
(My No-Prize explanation is that the screen explosion is foreshadowing Maddie's power, and definitely not just the artist being hyperbolic)

No idea if the X-Men ever tried to get in touch with Scott. Going by this whole "fake our death" plot, guessing the answer might be they did not.)
And every time he tried to talk to Jean either something happened or his severe emotional constipation flared up, until she found out Maddie existed on her own.
Just that Maddie should probably suspect Scott hasn't immediately given her up for dead forever to get back with his old girlfriend.
Not unless something or someone is manipulating her emotions to turn her evil.
... but yeah, no-one's coming out of these stories looking good.
Mainly the writers, but also the characters.
Not even Baby Cable. He's probably guilty of something.
(Maddie, having powers? Such a ridiculous notion. Fie upon it!)

Date: 2025-09-11 04:56 am (UTC)Still, the whole mess got started when Scott left his wife and newborn, despite her definitely not being okay with it, and didn't go back home after weeks of not talking to his wife. Trauma and repression aside, that's not being a good partner or a good parent.
