It came out over 2016-2017, several years after that'd finished - part of what Dynamite Entertainment was doing with Battlestar Galactica then.
It's a comic of something that wasn't originally a comic where the script and art aren't " This should've just been a photoplay. "
It's very neatly spliced into its source series - issue #1 opens on the " Blackbird ", the stealth Viper built in the season 2 episode Flight of the Phoenix.
Colonial Fleet-wide news echoed the note on which that'd ended - the Blackbird's construction as a reminder that " We can accomplish miracles. "

(Baltar here does not look overmuch like James Callis, but his design does put across the stresses of his ego.)

(The Centurions and the exploding rounds were the earlier season 2 episode Valley of Darkness.)

" Excuse me? Dr. Baltar? " interjected Brother Cavil, the priest whose first appearance was in the season 2 finale.
" I could come back later if you're too busy.. talking to yourself. "
Baltar excused himself as thinking out loud.

Cavil answered characteristically.

Later, Felix Gaeta'd enlisted Apollo and Starbuck's help in figuring out what Baltar was up to.

They found Baltar building his " frakking Cylon centurion! "

Adama'd come to discuss the Fleet's resource mining plans with Baltar - he now wanted to know about the Centurion being built " without my consent? "
" I wanted to.. surprise you? "
" I don't like surprises. "

Adama asked about doing the same for " more advanced models? " - the Sharon in custody.
Helo was telling her " - if this works the Old Man wants to reprogram you! "

Eleven days later, Baltar was staging an unveiling.

" .. you might have to deal with more than just the Centurion. "
Sharon was out of the brig, to assist Baltar.

" .. and God. "
(Daniel Graystone was a protagonist of the remake's one-season prequel Caprica.)
The association energized Baltar - he threw his switch, and electric life surged into Tallos.

Tallos came online, to Baltar's exultant joy.

(Pagecount's just under 7 and a third of 22 from November 2016's Battlestar Galactica: Gods & Monsters #1.
Writing's Karl Kesel, whose sci-fi work is normally more fitting the original series' tone.
Art's Alec Morgan.
Colors're Chris O'Halloran - letters, Tom Napolitano.
Publisher's Dynamite.)

Date: 2025-07-12 09:46 pm (UTC)One time at a book shop I found a copy of the Battlestar Galactica fake manga. I ended up buying that but I've never read it.
