"Next week – Rise of the Powers of X #3, where everyone sits down, talks it out, and comes to a reasonable compromise, meaning the rest of the event is just everyone eating scones."
-- Kieron Gillen

Xavier has gone back in time to kill Moira before her power manifests in order to prevent Krakoa and thus the rise of the Dominion Enigma.

Xavier is interrupted by Rasputin IV and then by Rachel Summers, who telepathically projects something in his mind, a message from her team about Krakoa and the dream and why he shouldn't wipe it away.

Kieron Gillen is a mixed bag for me, but I do appreciate his sense of humor about his work.

Darn it, Chuck. Getting mutant children killed is, like, the ONE THING you're good at.

Getting them accidentally killed, sure.
Doing it on purpose is a little harder.

No, he didn't. Because he was dead.
Dead people are notoriously bad at learning things.

So this isn't earliest Moira, since she has awareness of her own powers which haven't kicked in yet,

I suppose he felt that the neutraliser gun was too risky, given people have regained the powers when hit by it (and a brilliant geneticist would be well placed to overcome it)

Not going to lie, I do like the the "Isn't that petrifying?" line. It's not a justification, it's a statement of the situation as he see's it.

It does seem a weird call. He's the type who sees suppressing mutant gifts or memories as less severe alternatives to murder.

(Why CAN'T he block out the memories of her previous loops? Worst case scenario, he's kicking the problem along to the next loop and they seem pretty sure this is her last loop. Well, I guess actual worst case is another Onslaught but Chuck isn't great about learning from mistakes)

But I guess this is important and he wanted to play to his strengths.

it's not possible to get back to earliest Moira because she's in timelines that were wiped away.

After her first life she retained her memories every time, but until she got old enough to manifest she didn't have her die and reset the time line powers

Wouldn’t the Enigma still have feasted off her past lives, or did that only apply to her tenth life when Sinister turned her clone into a living save point?

Hrm. My bet is that he implanted the idea of Krakoa in her head while getting rid of the memories that tormented her (ie, being burned alive by Pyro on Destiny's orders). At least, that's what I would do. Her memories should be vulnerable without her powers active.

Do they have her Cerebro backups from before Cerebro existed? Don't think the same way would work on her.

I know Moira is a fictional character. I know that.

But I'm still infuriated beyond all logic how they keep treating her as the most selfish person who ever lived, now that she's a 'mutant'.

Hey. Selfish and cowardly.
Can't forget that the woman who once stood up to Reverend Craig and his screaming mob and told him he was a bawbag is now afraid of pretty much everything.

... it's a little late in the day, but thinking about it (and I might've said this before?), a character that would've made more sense for travelling back and instilling the idea of Krakoa in Charles (on the short list of "pretty much anyone") would've been Rachel.
Think about it.
She grew up in a dystopian future, lived out her life in another, where she founded a pseudo-religious resistance, and she's not always got the best decision making skills ("The Beyonder can't destroy the universe if I destroy it FIRST!").
Given the sheer metric crap ton of crap that has been dumped on her time and again, her snapping and finally deciding to go extreme to prevent Nimrods coming around wouldn't be the biggest stretch.
Lots of characters have become villains for less and worse reasons.

... I mean, obviously I'd still be complaining about that (because, as already said, Ray gets enough dumped on her as is). But it'd still make more sense that this.

And instead, Chuck shoots HER at the end of this issue.

(Apparently the need to "Resurrect the Phoenix" to beat the Enigma Dominion and I guess as a Phoenix host Rachel needs to die as part of that?)
