Seriously though, with a lot of people, especially friends, you can shamelessly and blatantly trade pizza / food for help and labor <3

If you write a post about environmentalism and it involves "the banning of all types of plastic everywhere", it doesnt matter how much I agree with the rest of your post I simply can't reblog it.

Plastic is always going to be needed somewhere in the world, especially in medical devices. And you do not get to be upset at, or decide to sacrifice, the disabled and ill people who rely on plastic to survive.

A few months ago I ran across someone who very confidently said that "plastic should be banned except for hospitals". They didn't say "single use plastic", they just said plastic.

And as someone in that business, I very politely asked how they would propose electricity to work without plastic? And I think they blocked me, at least they never got back to me.

Because we need plastic for much more than just medical stuff.

How are you insulating electrical wires without plastic? Should we go blank wires in the house?

And how would water lines work, botj fresh and waste water? Back to lead pipes?

Plastic pipes are the best material we have currently, with a lifespan of at least 100 years.

Like it or not, we are dependant on plastic in many ways. We should try to minimize the impact and work on recycling as much as we can (thermoplastics are practically infinitely recyclable and it hurts my heart to hear how many countries just burn or bury it), but it's here to stay.

And anyone who doesn't acknowledge that and wants to just get rid of everything knows absolutely nothing and shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone.

And yes, so many times it's just blatant ableism. Some time ago there was this "discourse", or rather people telling asthmatics that they shouldn't use inhalers because they're made of plastic. Okay, I'll just fucking DIE then, I guess. Also again, shows how little they know: the spray itself has literal greenhouse gases, something that can be criticized and that many manufacturers are changing. But instead, asthmatics should just die because their medical device is made of plastic.

Or the tired plastic straw argument of course.

Like this isn't an exaggeration. You should be able to rent alone, buy groceries, have disposable income, and still save for a vacation or whatever tf. I cannot emphasize enough how little people are being paid
