Happy Turkey Day!

Hehe, I just read your latest news post on the website. Hilarious!
Happy Turkey Day everyone! Don't get too stuffed on the stuffing.
And may your turkey appetite last for many lunches henceforth!
Pass the gravy, please.

Goodbye Perfect

Well it seems that Star has done it. She killed Perfect Jones, though as I write this i'm aware that she could be yakning our chain and be planing a huge come back, for the moment I will assume that Perfect is dead. So I have a question for all you fellow readers out there what is your feelings about that. And what were your feelings about Perfect? How do YOU think her death will or would affect those close to her?

Also on related topic I must say I for one love the new subtitles it's neat so far my fav is become fist of the parkeet but then I'm a kung fu geek not that I don't still love and anticcapate every issue of starhardor nights and the others

Hex Kittens Banners!

I was playing around with a free animated gif maker and came up with these simple Public Service Announcement style banner ads for the Hex Kitties. :P They could very well be improved in the future, maybe with some sort of curlicue border or even possibly head shots of the girls. Anyway, if anybody wanted to create a link to the website from their own page, you can copy either these images and use them.

Final episodes... regrets.

I'm extremely proud of my work of the last two weeks, but I also see things I could have done better (as I did with most of the series.) I'm still mulling whether or not to go through and make wholesale (but not continuity-altering) revisions to the first volume or just leave it there, warts and all... after all, this was in many way an experiment, and a learning experience. :P I guess I could make an original version and an author's preferred text version.

Anyway, these are the things that bug me... for spoiler reasons, I'm placing the info behind a cut.

Premonitions and Postulations

Ok, anyone have any wild guesses as to who might be behind all this church chaos? I have a good feeling it's someone we've already met. These things tend to have more punch when the culprit is established and without suspicion. Of course, I could be way off here, I usually am. I don't mind being pleasantly surprised, though.

I believe whomever is behind the burnings and recent bombing has a vested interest in the church, not vigilantes, which points to a few obvious characters, like his Excellency, Bishop Roy O'Halloran. His statement in episode 9.4 Party Politics:

"Nonsense. As you said, it's about the greater good. Believe me when I've said that the result of this wedding means as much to me as it does to you."

I don't suspect the bishop, though. It's too blatant. It's who she wants us to suspect. I believe this comment was referring to Pamella's bisexuality, and the Bishop's hopes that her marriage would "straighten her out". Notice the haphazard manner in which Chuck glosses over Stacey and Lilly's relationship? Right.

So? Who else? Well, there's the fact that the Bone Lords were part of the whole thing. We garnished this knowledge from the Seeress. Her warnings to Ray way back in episode 2.6 Ray Vallenzio and the Chamber of Seeress:

"It was not your place to stop the fire. Powerful things stir on the streets of Star Harbor. To interfere in their plans this early would do nothing but bring your pitiful self to their attention. They would pluck you off from the skin of the earth as a man picks off a flea."

The powerful things we were led to believe were the Bone Lords, which Ray did mention as being the force he and his team were slated to combat. That idea has been like a stream flowing just below the surface of the story, referenced many times by a few players, most recently by Perfect in episode 10.3 Perfect Reasoning. Whomever is behind the Bone Lords is also behind these church burnings. Whomever is behind those must also be connected to the recent bombing.

Who do I have my eye on? Well, I'm not sure if I want to name names, but let's just say he's got connections to High places, and can be a bit creepy. ¬.¬

Big Bang Theory

So the question I ask...does anyone think that Lydia, who was conviently absent from the wedding have some insider knowledge of what was going to happen, or maybe even have something to do with planning what happened? Also...does anyone think that Lily or Pam could have somehow survived? This is what I am thinking, just wonderin what everyone else's thoughts and/or opinions might be.

Ok I think it's been great to have this non action stories so that we get a feel for the world around the heores. After all we think their great but there's alwasy people that are afraid of the different. So I can't help but worry how starharbors election will go and on a side note how dare those bastereds try to evict vine.

The Rise of the Vigilante

You know what would be cool? To know how this all came about. Your website says that the vigilante movement started back in the 1920's when crime was rampant. I would like to know more about this time, who were the major players? Were they mutants, super gifted or just everyday Joes and Janes who were forced to deal with the criminal element through circumstance? I think you could write a really good genesis, and I believe it would bring a lot of depth and perspective to the whole collection. It must have been tough back then, no real support, relying on your wits and skill in a world where vigilantes aren't accepted. Heck, maybe it could be a good side-story to the Lydia issue.

Hmmm

It's a measure of this series' greatness that it compelled me to overcome my innate distrust of signing up for crap, just so that I could get the bonus story (the fact that I'm reading updates right after they're posted isn't an indication of much because I already do that for lots of webcomics--even ones that suck. But I repeat myself). So anyways, I start looking around for it and can't find it anywhere, so I begin to think it was all just some sort of clever ruse. I can already see some sinister advertising executive lurking in the shadows, writing story after awesome story for several months as part of an intricate plot to harvest my personal data.

Then I click on something at random and there's the bonus story. Duh me. There should be better instructions on how to get to the bonus story, like "Click on things at random until you find the bonus story."

I think perhaps I should actually contribute something, so rampant speculation time: when Johnny Dark and S. Morgenstern are introduced, the Seeress doesn't seem to know the true identity of either, but in the "Two Visits..." story she makes an apparent allusion to Johnny's (real) identity. Is this an author slip-up, an untold story, or just an omniscient brainfart on part of the Seeress? Perhaps it's a sign of something more shocking altogether (alien clairvoyant clones from space!)?

Jeroboam

I think seaflame was going to start a conversation about him, but as she hasn't, I will. Hope you don't mind seaflame. :P

What are everyone's theories on him defeating that demon in SHN 9.1? It sounds like his blood is "bane" to demons... but why? And why did he kill it painfully instead of quickly? Sure, he's a demon hunter of sorts, but he seems to really hate demons... damn, now I'm really intrigued about him, much more than before... More of Jeroboam, damnit! :P

It sounds like starharbor/Lexy (any name preference?) wants him to be a mystery character, so I doubt we'll see a large amount of his backstory anytime soon... which is slightly evil of her, but leaves him open to lots of interesting discussion. :)
