Well sportsfans, I'm sure you'll all be relieved to hear that I survived my adventure in the emergency room of Mount Sinai hospital yesterday. As luck would have it, I had developed an abscess in my neck thought to be caused by a routine dental cleaning the Saturday prior. Of course the doctor didn't want to provide me with a general anesthetic like last time, and would only give me a breadcrumb of morphine, so yours truly was subjected to some of the type of pain I'm sure is reserved especially for Hell's VIPs. The really fun thing about abscesses though is that after they drain them of the lovely bits inside, then they insert a string of bandage into the cavity created, only to pull it out later. Which brings me to today, when another doctor again declined to provide any type of pain medicate and began to partially remove said bandage... supposedly we shall be proceeding further tomorrow. At least I know to pop a few trusty T3s beforehand @_@

LJ, forgive me. It has been more than ten months since my last entry. These are my updates...

This may or may not be my last year in school, depending on whether I decide to return out east to spend a few weeks in Elsipogtog (the reserve which I call home). Cesar and I (yes we're still together after five years) made the trip out in mid-December and as soon as I got back to Toronto I realized how much I really miss everyone there. I'm hoping to learn to learn the art of traditional basking weaving and embroidery from my aunt Peggy upon my return, both of which are identified as women's crafts but that has never stopped me before (that and I would like to find some way to ensure the knowledge is preserved).

As the majority of my classes this term are fourth year, I only have one mid-term and one final to worry about. That said, the reading load looks to be near redonkulous and I really should be starting at least tomorrow's soon (ever the procrastinator). The Professor of my Anthropology of New Technologies course actually remembered me from two years ago when she was the TA of another course in which I was enrolled. I suppose I should take that as a complement? I'm not much of a public speaker, so formulating something intelligent and then conveying it in one piece can prove difficult at times. Then at others, I suggest concepts worth of thesis papers. I'd settle for something perhaps more reliable inbetween.

My Father passed away the year before last. I suspect he had known about his health conditions before he moved out east to Nova Scotia years ago, and didn't tell anyone because... well... that was the type of man he was (in many ways I understand his motivations). I haven't yet had the opportunity to pay my respects... I dream of him sometimes... and enjoy perusing the few personal effects of his I received.

My Mother pulled up stakes and moved to Elsipogtog rather suddently... I'm not certain if she has yet found employment with the band office as she had hoped. Time seems to work differently there, and it can be frustrating for those ill-equipped. Things seem to happen in their own time in any case.

Well I guess thats it for now :)

I'm only on generation two of my recorded family history, and already first cousins have married each other, and a widow has been remarried to her brother in-law... this does not bode well @_@

Phillip managed to fix my CRT television this evening, saving me the $3,000 I considered spending on Samsung's 1080P 46' LCD television... at least for the time being. Doing so required a handsaw and a wire coat hanger, but he got the job done!

...and I could voice my continued frustrations with Cesar but god knows that'll do any good...

Strange Dream...

I was walking along Floribunda Cres. (the neighbourhood in which I grew up) for some reason, and decided to knock on Ryan's door to see if he was home... while I waited, I read a sign that had been made from a piece of cardboard requesting that I remove my shoes upon entry. His mom answered and seemed a little uncomfortable with me being there, but invited me in and asked me to take off my shoes since they had just repaved the driveway and didn't want to get soot tracked into the house onto the linoleum floors. Danny was also there to my surprise, and I somehow clued in that it was Ryan's birthday (maybe thats the reason why I decided to visit him in the first place?). More awkardness, and then Ryan demanded I go with the two of them and some other people to a Cougar bar that evening. I expressed my reluctance, but Ryan insisted. I learnt from a nearby computer (I think) that he had devoted up to $140 to pay everyone's admission fees for the bar. I then realized I had failed to remove my shoes as requested and had created sooty footprints all throughout the house. Ryan's parents weren't too impressed, and his father actually got onto his hands and knees and began cleaning the floors. I told him to leave the cleaning to me, as I was worried he would aggravate a previous back injury. Somewhere in the course of doing so, I also began cleaning soot from my white macbook that I didn't remember as having brought with me. I also removed my shoes, but I felt uncomfortable that I wasn't wearing any socks, and asked Ryan for a pair (promising that I would wash them and bring them back to him ASAP). I think by that time, Ryan's mom said that dinner was ready, but I got the impression that they hadn't planned for enough food to feed me as well, so I think I left at that point...
