The Death of *Grep SailorMoon: And why it should have happened sooner

(X-Posted around many places)

"Good night. It's time to go. The code which used to run this site has all rotted beyond use."

Those are the final words you will see from sailormoon.org, A.K.A. Grep* SailorMoon. No fanfare, no heartfelt goodbye, no way of contacting the owners of the site. The fall of the once great Sailor Moon fansite, a tale of moonies all over the world coming together to celebrate their fandom, has ended. Despite what you are about to read, I am not happy to see the site die out once and for all. However, it was a dream that was both held onto for too long AND showed us the worst of a fandom that should have been one of the most heartfelt, inspiring anime groups of all time.

Is the Fandom still alive here?

I am not even sure if this community here is active anymore but if anything else, I can say that I have once again rediscovered Sailor Moon after having watched Crystal reboot over on Tubi. Sailor Moon holds a lot of memories for me on account of the fact that I once participated in many Sailor Moon roleplaying groups (albeit with varying success) and I made some friends here through them. I suppose this is my way of trying to perhaps reconnect with them if they are still active on Livejournal but it's doubtful since from what I know, people have moved on.

Anyway... Sailor Moon Crystal is available to watch on Tubi in both the English dub and original Japanese audio!

Old vs. New DVDs

I've got some questions about the new DVDs that Viz is releasing of the original Sailor Moon anime.

See, I own the old DVDs from back in the day. And I wanted to know, are these new DVDs remastered, or improved in any way? (Like better video or audio quality) Or are they just a simple re-release? Because if the quality is much better than the old ones, I might be interested in picking them up. But if it's the same quality, then there's no point. (Yeah, I heard they did a new dub, but I prefer the sub, so that's not a selling point for me.)

So, does anyone own both the old and new DVDs? Or have any other input about the quality of the new ones? Are they worth buying, even though I already own the series? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
