Snowflake Challenge, Day 2: Fandom Origins

Since Dune: Prophecy is the latest fandom I've stepped in, I'm gonna make this entry about Dune Prophecy and not Resident Evil (gasp).
Shortly before XMas a few weeks ago, I saw pictures of Mark Strong (MASSIVE CRUSH!) in this new show set in the Dune universe. Since I have some rudimentary knowledge about Dune, the temptation to check out the show was rather intense. What kept me from doing so was the fact that I don't do streaming (and the first season BluRays are scheduled to come out in April this year, so, no help there). Fast forward to XMas, when I received an XMas present e-mail from my boss with an Amazon voucher for 25 Euros. It was like fate since the show is available on Prime Video here. So, I bought it and watched it and was hooked immediately.
The show is right up my alley, it's a soap opera with sci-fi elements (I'm not much of a sci-fi fan but I do like it when it's mixed with other genres). And oh boy did I fall for Javicco Corrino, Mark Strong's character. No surprise there, I guess. Haha.
The only downside is that there appears to be no merch for the show whatsoever, but since it has been renewed for a second season I have hope for at least SOME merch stuff down the line.
Don't have much else to say for now since it's all so new for me! Have met some nice fellow fans on Bluesky already tho, and I keep hoping I'll find some here on DW as well at some point.
