babs - rawr!

Hello? *listens for echo*

Is this comm dead? I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Meghan. I'm 18 years old and I'm a student starting at AR this fall. I want to be a politician so I'm gonna study politics and all that good stuff. I identify as bisexual but I'm not dating guys, and I probably won't for a good while.

I'm a musician, writer and activist and I would like to get more involved in gay rights and the women's movement in Sacramento but unfortunately there isn't much to get involved in. I want to go to school in Santa Cruz where there is more to do, and maybe take a semester in Washington DC so I can be an intern with NOW.

I'd also like to just meet local girls who are also gay since I don't really know anybody who's going through the same things as me. I mean, no one probably is going through exactly the same things but... you know what I mean. I want somebody to talk to, is basically what I'm saying.

I had a girlfriend once but we didn't really go out for very long and we didn't hang out much since she lived in Folsom and didn't have a car. I live in the North Sac/Arden/Arcade area. I also had a boyfriend at the beginning of this year but he assaulted me and that's why I am not dating guys. Anyway I probably said too much. If you want to talk, go ahead and comment or message me -- if anyone still sees this community, anyway!

Marriage: Anything Less is Less than Equal!

Marriage: Anything Less is Less than Equal!
I was reprimanded today for sending this invitation to an email list associated with my daughter's Montessori school. I am getting the parent who complained back by posting it everywhere I can and trying to get as many people I can to come to the meeting. Will you help me by telling everyone you know in the Auburn area about it? People fear what they do not know. Let's tell em all about it! -Jean Adams-

(no subject)

Hey, new here!
Name's Katie. Im 14 years old (Going to be 15 in September).
It feel's good to be a part of a community for Sacramento! Technically, I don't live in Sacramento. But since there is a Cameron Park community, this'll have to do.
Just thought I'd introduce myself.
Oh, these communities are awesome. Everyone is really nice.

silence

So I read this http://www.livejournal.com/communi…
And then I read this http://boston.craigslist.org/w4w/6…
And I am ssooooo sad it hurts
It is 2005 and people are still afraid to report hate crimes
Silence means acceptance
Silence means it will happen again
Silence means no movement forward
I wish I could find this woman and say go tell. So many major police departments have mandatory training now on how to handle hate crimes. Stereotypes of law enforcement hinder us as much as stereotypes about us if we will NOT speak up!
