 Hi everyone!
I had a livejournal years ago but am happy to be back, determined to find support on my path to recovery, and help others struggling with the same diseases/addictions/traumas. I will post tonight on my page a summary of my first step so those of you who want to can get to know me a little better. Thank you all for being here and looking forward to sharing my experiences, struggles, strengths, and hopes.

I have an announcement! I'm really excited to share these. Okay, I am making two custom wristbands.

1) The first one is an atheist wristband in white that says “Proud Atheist“.

2) The second one is an ED recovery wristband in purple that says “Fighter” for all those in recovery and/or those who have recovered. The colour purple has a variety of meanings: Eating Disorder Awareness, Alzheimer’s Disease, Chrohn’s Disease, Domestic Violence, Epilepsy, Fibromyalgia, General Cancer, Lupus, Pancreatic Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and Relay for Life. So even though I’m applying the meaning to this wristband as “eating disorder recovery”, it can apply to all of these causes! Thus, this wristband may represent the cause of your choice.




I want to buy these wristbands in bulk and I need an estimate as to how many I should order and which types. My questions to you all are:

1) Would you buy a wristband for $4.00 CAN?
2) If so, which type (white or purple)?
3) Would you prefer a thick band or a thin band?
4) In what size? (Large - 8 inches or Adult- 7 inches or Child - 5 inches)
5) And how many would you buy? (Each additional wristband is 0.50 cents. Ex: if you buy four bands your total is $5.50)

Hey, things have been pretty quiet in this community. I hope that that is good news. I myself am guilty of letting the community drop out of my thoughts once my girlfriends ed "cleared up". I got a lot of support from people here as I tried to deal with the new experience of dealing with my girlfriend's disorder. I just want to let people here know that first of all I appreciate the support I got, and second of all, I am here to listen or talk incase anyone else needs some support.

In the meantime, I'll hope that the quiet here means people are well and having happy holidays.

This is crossposted from my journal. While I have thankfully not seen this happen to this community I do hope that if it does, or that if you are a member of some other support community where this is going on you will report it immediately..

In the depression support community I am a part of some sick individuals have been posting harrassing images. These things go way beyond flaming. In a community sthere to support people with depression these individuals are posting what look like police or coroner's pictures of suicide victims with quips like "do the world a favor and get it right next time" There are pictures of mutilated war casualties, and the most vulgar porn. There was a post of 50 pictures of Hitler...Following the links to some of these users' journals I found that some of them are "memebers" of several support communities, presumably for the sole purpose of harrassing, abusing, and triggering the members of those groups.

I urge anyone who is a member of a support community to report these kinds of abuses to Live Journal immediately if they happen in your community. The procedure for reporting is as follows:

Freedom of speech is a wonderfull thing but hate is not. Speak up if this is happening in your community. Don't just leave it for community mods to deal with; don't just figure someone else will take care of it and you don't want to be a bother to the busy LJ people by reporting something they surely must already know about; don't get exasperated and allow yourself to be bullied into leaving a community that has been supportive for you. If you are in a community being harrassed by these people stand up and give support back to the community that has supported you.

I'm really not doing well.

I've been going towards recovery.
From July to December, I lost 30lbs.  Although not underweight, I was getting other symptoms of anorexia, like hair loss, constant shivering/never able to be warm, fractured vision, dizziness when exercise, etc.  I was doing an average of 200 - 500 cals a day.

Ever since January, I've been in "recovery".
It's been really hard.  And I don't know if it's worth it.  Those 30lbs were 18% of my body weight (if you're mathematical, you can see how fucking huge I was before ...), and I've gained *much* of it back.  I still see myself as HUGE even though my "thin clothes" still fit.

I don't know.
I want to go back to starving.
I don't want to fight it anymore.

Is there really any point??
