My roommate came to me about an hour ago and said "Hey, that computer monitor we let you use? Yeah, um, we need it back." Said monitor was a 19" LCD widescreen which was functioning as my primary monitor.

I am now down to one monitor, a 7-year-old 15" LCD which is going dim due to its old age and has a max resolution of 1024x768. It was previously my secondary monitor which held IRC and the always-on-top Skype video window that allows me to keep in touch with my man, but now it also has to do Firefox, WoW/GW, IMs, my excessively long Windows system tray, and everything else.

I didn't realize how much I'd come to depend on having two screens until now. The issue is compounded by the fact that I also use dual monitors at work (although they're set to like 640x480 and we can't adjust it). It is going to make Abuse work that much harder as I'll have to tab in and out between IRC and Firefox (not to mention the tabs will be sooooo tiny now).

Oh, well. I'm sure I'll get used to it. At least the font in the DW HTML editor is small enough that I can still see the whole entry without scrolling in this narrow window... >.>

So I just got a popup on my computer from Norton Anti-Virus. It said that my subscription will expire in 30 days, because this was a 60-day subscription that came with the computer.

It then proceeded to tell me that I have been protected from 72336 viruses over the past 30 days. I'm like, o.O WTF? That's the number of viruses total in their definition list, but a computer nub would very likely think that their computer would have contracted seventy-two thousand viruses in 30 days without the aegis of the awesomely wonderful Norton product.

So Mat says I need to update.

I'm a dumbass. When I last reformatted my computer, I made two partitions, a small one for 98 and a big one for XP. Well, on Saturday, I decided I didn't need 98 anymore, so brilliant me decided to reformat that partition. The only primary partition on the disk. So, of course, the computer wouldn't boot, and I spent all day Saturday jumping through hoops with Windows Setup and Partition Magic to rearrange all my data and reinstall windows on one big partition. Remind me not to make stupid decisions while I'm half asleep.

Things have been going okay lately. The cat's back to his insane self, I'm still not getting enough sleep, and a check came in the mail today to reimburse me for my prescription. Bill's finally reading his back-issues of Wired, and Mat still tells me I spend too much time on the computer. Work is good, we're planning a surprise party for Holly on the 17th. My team is supposed to be bringing dessert. I wonder if I should commit to a pineapple upside-down cake.

It's time for me to go shower and sleep now, since work comes early...
