The Crate is a common container that can be found in radtowns and other locations, such as junk piles. It can be opened by pressing the Use key ('E' by default) and typically contains various components as well as low/mid tier items such as clothing, tools and weaponry.

Like all other crates, by dragging anything in the crate onto an item in your inventory will switch them allowing players to place items in their inventory into crates. The biggest and only use of this to my knowledge is to stop them despawning and possibly trapping them or to stop other players from getting good loot from them

Go along the road with a [url=https://rustlabs.com/entity/horse]Horse[/url] to quickly loot a lot of these.
