OTW Guest Post: ME
Heyyy, I wrote this month's OTW Guest Post about being a fan and running a rec community, and they also asked me what I saw the OTW's role as, so, I told them.
I actually wrote this last July. Knowing it would be published at least five months after I wrote it, directly in the wake of their 2022-2025 Vision Statement, I was a little worried the OTW would get their shit together and make meaningful changes to the way they handle racist harassment on their platforms and thus make my criticism embarrassingly out of date once it was finally published, buttttttt, I wasn't that worried as their past performance suggested this was highly unlikely. And so here we are with my remarks unfortunately still relevant today.

Absolutely no public-facing progress (or progress report) has been made since I wrote this.
Go you!
That's a most excellent essay, and I'm very sad that your deliberate explanation if the racist barriers that remain is still appropriate.
Also, thanks for
fancake!
Re: Go you!
Thank you. It's shameful that the OTW isn't making this a priority. They haven't even honored their pledge to "improve public relations by increasing transparency with both members and non-members about the OTW as a whole."

(Also great Tom Waits quote in your tags here! What Are They Building In There, indeed.)

Thank you! And yeah, the "what's he building in there" vibes are undeniable.
