What I've been up to + Travel blog update
I'm freezing!!! At work, and because there is a bead-making course going on, the fans have to be on. If the fans are on, the door opens a bit (because otherwise the windows will apparently implode). So I'm COLD. Huddling with a cup of tea, with my laptop on my lap for some warmth, but my feet are still icicles. Boo-urns.
Anyway, there's an update here on my travel blog. Photos from Stratford-upon-Avon.
Most of my time at the moment is being taken up with reading for a critical analysis, researching an abbey for a film project, and trying to get the work placement for my dissertation off the ground. The critical analysis is actual quite interesting, as I'm having to do some original research for it and I've never done this before! I know! So I've been reading up on how to research learning. I'll be taking a group to St Fagans open-air museum (just outside Cardiff). Half of them will be given an audio guide which they will have to use, the other half will be my control group and won't receive anything outside what the museum offers. So I need to come up with a means of determining what and how anything is learned with an audio guide vs without one.
The raw food is going well! I'm really enjoying all the fresh fruit and veggies. Last night I went to Arts Cafe in Stokes Croft and had a delicious raw carrot cake. I ate the whole thing before I even remembered to take a photo (oops). But I may go back for seconds, and this time I'll remember the photo ;) Hopefully a new post will be appearing soon on Coloured Threads.

I'm Back
I have not posted in ages, I know.
I've been very busy with my MA the past six months, but after a crazy couple of terms, it seems things are starting to settle a bit. Come May, it will be dissertation time, so I will hopefully have more time for other things besides class.
Just wanted to give a heads up to my new raw food blog, which you can find here. I've called it Coloured Threads because I came across it in a book I'm reading and it made me happy for some reason. So there you go ;D
Hopefully I will get back into the habit of posting here on LJ. I still do read my Friends list all the time, so I haven't disappeared completely!
Kx

I'm finally here!
I am in Bristol!
Arrived yesterday: flight arrived on time at noon and I was through Heathrow immigrations and with a coach ticket in hand in time for the 13:05. When did the coach leave, you ask? 1:30. When did it arrive in Bristol? 3:45pm - 45 mins late. Normally, I wouldn't care, except the residence in which I'm staying was very adamant about arriving by 4pm, or else come back the next day. By the time the UofB folks helped us noobs onto the residence shuttle, it was already 4pm. Arrived at 4:30 and ALMOST didn't get in. They were very hesitant at first about giving me my keys. WTF? I'm standing right in front of you, all my bags are here, and you won't even hand over my keys? Anyway, they did, and I was able to move in.
All I did last night was go out for a few groceries, then to Borders to get a copy of Rough Guide's Britain, then to this restaurant called "Yum Yum Thai". Guess what, folks? Don't eat there. At the time, it was okay (more like "So So Thai"). But last night I woke up feeling gross and ill. Won't go into details, but we won't be going there again.
Today, more shopping! Had to get supplies for the MA Archaeology student field trip on Tuesday, then to the Mall and Broadmead shopping centre. The main point was to go to Argos, but when I got there I found out you had to order things from a catalogue. Is this normal? Are they all like that? Instead of Argos there was this small shop across the way (like Home Hardware) and I got some of the things I needed there. Tomorrow I'm going to try Asda for the rest.
Tomorrow: registration!

In need of my fat pants
Vegan goodies? A nice treat every once and a while.
A brownie and two peanut butter cup cupcakes in 3 hours?
Hmm.... not so good >_< Delicious, but UGH.

Weekend photos
Running!
Ugh. Running outside is much different than running on a treadmill. But at least Queen's Park and the U of T campus is quite nice at 6:30am.
Karma? Did I do something wrong?
My goodness, I'm a bit out of it today.
I stopped at Booster Juice for a... juice. Bit disappointed, as it's mostly carrots and what I was really hankering for was the beets indicated in the ingredients (carrots, apples, beets). But anyway, it hasn't pepped me up like I was hoping for.
And I'm also pissed off. Last night I had an appointment with a seamstress. This appointment was made at the first meeting with my friend standing right next to me. We discussed how we'd prefer a different day to come back, but no, Tuesday June the 9th it had to be. So I show up yesterday, and guess what? "Oh, no.. you're appointment is for tomorrow, see?" as she points to her calendar. At this point, I had just driven over an hour in rush hour from Toronto to Mississauga. This was not what I wanted to hear. At all. Barely being nice enough to qualify as polite I leave, then call my friend immediately to check with her what I already knew. Yes, it was supposed to be for today. FUCK. So now I have to do it all AGAIN today. Fuck fuck fuckity-fuck.
