So I was talking with someone about politics and the arguement came up about if Bill Clinton could or could not be appointed to the Supreme Court. Looking past the part where he can't be appointed to the SC, I couldn't explain why froma governmental standpoint (not political). Any ideas?

I didn't write this, but it might get passes around as an email chain letter.

Of all the reasons for defeat, there are probably none more humiliating than sheer hubris. A lifetime of regret awaits the citizen who opted not to vote simply because he or she was overconfident that their candidates were destined to win, only to see them lose partly because of their overconfidence. The inconvenience of voting is a small price to pay for the assurance that one has done their part to get their candidates elected.

For all the talk of Barack Obama's lead in the polls, his support will be all for naught if the people polled did not cast their ballot this Election Day.

There is indeed evidence that efforts are underway to forge the results of the election. Yet this is not a reason to regard ones vote as a waste of time. On the contrary, it makes it all the more necessary to be present at the polling stations, as your input on potential exit polls, as well as any testimony you might have as a firsthand witness of vote tampering, might prove invaluable should the issue be taken to the courts.

History will one day judge us as having risen to this epochal occasion, or stood idly by, either smugly certain of its outcome or cynical of its impact.

Now is not the time to sit idly by. If for no other reason to claim partial credit for victory or to be immune from blame in case of defeat, it is time to take direct action.

I'm curious to who actually watches these. It's about 4ish hours of speech, but well worth it.
