The Remus/Sirius 500 challenge!

Several days late, as usual. You guys should be used to it by now, right?

I know I suck at this and I'm really sorry. I'm not going to specify due dates 'cause I'm not sure I'm going to run one next month, so it won't matter if anyone's late. Sometime within the next thirty days should be good.

I'm going to talk to a few people about taking over moderation of the two _500s comms. If anybody's interested, let me know and we can talk.

Because I know that many Potter fans have also become Star Trek fans:

If I were to create a third community along the same vein as rs_500 and hd_500, something like KS_500 (for Kirk/Spock), KM_500 (Kirk/McCoy) or even just ST_500 (for anything gen, het, or slash), would you be interested?

Would you be interested in assisting me in its moderation?

Would you be interested in assisting me in the moderation of any or all of these communities?

I know I'm often pretty slow about getting sign-ups out and distributing prompts, which would be the purpose of having others assist me--even being on standby so that you can post sign-ups if for whatever reason I'm not able to. The downside of moderating would, of course, be that any month you mod, you can't participate.

Let me know what you think! I'm fairly excited about the idea.

Sign-ups will be from now until the 10th. On the 11th, I will distribute challenges--each participant must write a 500+ word fic featuring the challenge given. Sign-ups and challenges are in the following format:

You have until the 25th of October to write. On and after the 25th, as long as it's still September, you may post your fic to the community. You must post your fic here first--no links or fake-cuts, please. After that, feel free to post it anywhere!

If your fic is not posted before the first of November, you may not participate in the November challenge. I may or may not post your name in the sign-ups asking you to contact me. If your fic is still not done by December, I will give it to a pinch-hitter whether I've heard from you or not. IF YOU THINK YOU WILL BE LATE, CONTACT ME! IF YOU CANNOT FINISH YOUR CHALLENGE, CONTACT ME! Tell me if you just need more time or if you'd rather I find a pinch-hitter right away. I NEED to hear from you.

Note: If your fic goes to a pinch-hitter, you are still responsible for its lateness and you may not participate until the pinch-hitter returns a fic. If the pinch-hitter is slow and does not contact me regarding the pinch-hit, I will give it to another pinch-hitter.

Here's the timetable for this month:

3rd-9th: Sign-ups (over)
10th: Challenges distributed (because I am slow and lazy and a horrible mod. Seriously, how do you guys put up with me month after month?)

28th-31st: Fics due

That should give you guys enough time to write and still have a few days for posting.

Remember that:
-Your fic should be at leaat 500 words, include the given keywords and dialogue, and feature R/S in some way.
-Your fic shouldbe posted between the 28th and the 31st--no earlier, no later.
-If you fic is a few days late, no biggie. Let me know before the end of the month that you're going to finish it. If I don't hear from you by the 31st, it goes in the "pinch-hit" pile.
-Don't post anywhere else before you post here. Once it's posted here, post it anywhere else you like.
-NO links or fake-cuts!

Sorry for the lack of challenge lat month, and even more for the lack of me letting you know there wouldn't be a challenge. Also sorry for the late this month, but next to last month I think I did good. Anyway! :D

AUGUST SIGN-UPS! For those who don't know the drill, comment to this post (all comments screened) with your Submission, which consists of three keywords and one line of dialogue. For example, if I were to sign up, it would look like this:

Username: lap_otter
Keywords: three, key, words
Dialogue: "Let's write some R/S, shall we?"

Replace the relevant pieces with your own username, keywords, and favored dialogue. Sign-ups will continue until June 5th at 11:59pm, at which point I will collect them and begin sorting through them. On June 6th sometime, I will distribute the Challenges. Each person who gave a Submission will receive a Challenge, which is in truth another player's Submission. You then will write furiously, coming up with a fic of 500 words or greater by the end of the month! Three of those words, of course, will be the keywords specified in your challenge; several others will be the line of dialogue. And if course, it has to feature R/S in some way.

On the 25th, regardless of when you actually finish, you will be allowed to post your completed fic. Players post their completed fics themselves, here first, without the use of links or fake-cuts. Once it's posted here, feel free to put it up anywhere else you like! Posting will continue through the end of the month. Anyone who hasn't posted it by then will be suspended from play until one of two things happens:

1. They contact me. But if an entire month passes with no word, I will attempt to locate a pinch-hitter. This pinch-hitter will write the challenge in leiu of the original intended author. Once the pinch-hitter posts, the original intended author is free to participate again if they wish.

2. If the author is simply running a few days late or lost track of time or the like, they may post their completed fic late. They will be suspended from play for the next month, but the month after that they're welcome to come back.

Either way, a fic must be returned for that challenge before the original intended author will be allowed to play again.
