I have a few.
My main one is that he comes from a family of arms dealers who later exiled him for trying to get rich via piracy and he met Silver and Turnbuckle on a pirate crew lead by a human captain. Scroop and Silver planned a mutiny and both were considered the “best” options for a captain but Silver won because of charisma
