Relating to my tags on the previous post, I just had a really bad no good awful thought.

What if Reiah and Alaric Veylocke had wanted Out? Raising a child had opened their eyes to the terror of existing and working within the organization. The lack of agency, the surveillance, the power structure, the demands of the job. And it was hereditary? Abolish would have to suffer through this simply because he carried their name? They had taken on the mantle and were weighed down by it their entire lives thereafter. Their son would not have to carry this burden, they would make sure of it.

Perhaps it was an accident. A slip of the tongue, a relationship misjudged. Or, perhaps, their confidants loyalties could never fully lie with them. Too enticing the spiders web, too intoxicating its venom. A construct so intricately woven and maintained by a thousand eager childer. If one of them ripped free, who knows how far the hole would stretch?

The Veylockes could not be let go. They were too substantial, too symbolic of the Organizations achievements. If a name such as theirs left their ranks, it would cast doubt on everything they embodied. Others might follow their example. No, the Veylockes could not leave.

But everyone loves a martyr.

It was a vampire who slaughtered Abolish's parents in their own home. One who had an invitation.

Don't take the child right away, let the wound fester, let the pain dull on its own. It's too young to be properly trained yet, give it a year or so, let it grow, let it yearn for purpose and belonging.

And then welcome it home.

Abolish is totally an antagonist, but not in the way that Pearl is so clearly portraying and encouraging people to view her as one, like how she took being called terrifying as a compliment. Abolish has been supportive, friendly and has even surprisingly flirted back with others though of course he stays logical, private, analytical and level headed, he doesn’t do it in a way that is portrayed as anything negative. I believed he was being genuine but the ending of his episode?? The laugh?? He is done with these people, he’s unimpressed, and of course, like he’s said before, he is bored. I mean during life he was an arena fighter and obviously a very skilled one too, so imagine after dying and being brought to wherever they are, his competition is these people who have never fought and are no where near his level, and providing no entertainment? He’s only going to get more bored and annoyed at these people. He’s acting genuine, but he’s playing the long game, with gaining allies he most likely doesnt really care about at the end of the day. Maybe he’ll find himself getting too attached to someone he promised himself hed only view as expendable though? But I doubt that seeing how logical and rational his character is. Plus he was stabbed in the back, maybe he only sees it fair if he does the same to these people.

safe to say I love this series, and diving in to character motivations and psych a bit (also all just theories if that’s the right thing to call it)

it could just be the fact that I’m used to him playing a less expressive character (veylocke) so we get these small bits of emotion or scary speeches and it’s so much fun to me cause I’m so used to Mr. Professional Abolish Veylocke
