Membership

You must be 18-years-old to become a member and to participate in the challenges at romancingwizard. There is occasional (tasteful and legal) adult content, so minors are not allowed to join. Memberships are moderated but are usually approved within two days.

If your membership is not approved, scroll down to the bottom of the community info page for more information.

You do not need to be a member to read and comment here, so feel free to 'watch' the community. The more the merrier!

ETA: The majority of our stories are rated G/PG and PG-13/R. (For example, in Challenge Fourteen: HBP Drabbles and Drawbles, 44 out of 66 entries were rated G/PG.) Any NC-17 content in most past and all future challenges (including drabbles) will be posted behind a cut with appropriate warnings, so minor watchers and others who don't care for that can avoid those stories easily.

Dear members and watchers,

Two years ago this month, redvelvetcanopy and lewlinx would not stop complaining about the lack of het on Live Journal, especially stories featuring Sirius Black. To stop their whinging, I created a new LJ community, Romancing the Wizard, to serve as a het haven for our beloved wizards. After I asked RVC and Lew to be my co-moderators, I commissioned art from BNFA perselus, and then we lured members from our friends lists.

Although romancingwizard began as a place to post stories, it has evolved into the challenge community it is today. We've set the bar higher with each challenge, and our members have met the new standards enthusiastically. Many of us, including the moderators, have grown as writers because of this. Earlier this year, we added six fantastic Proof Witches (velvetcandy, ladywhitehart, missblane, gelsey, sophierom, and stephanie206) to proofread for our members during challenges. Romancing the Wizard has been fortunate to attract both established and up-and-coming authors, and we now boast 150 members over the age of 18, as well as more than 200 watchers. Past challenges, featuring these talented writers, are listed with links on the community information page.

You may be wondering why we've been on hiatus since September. Each challenge takes many hours to format and to run, and the moderators have been busy with other projects:

In addition to her demanding RL responsibilities, redvelvetcanopy is currently writing an original fantasy novel. Working summary: A dark, mysterious force threatens the mages and warriors sworn to protect the Ancient Sisterhood. The story is about strong women with special gifts, and there are plenty of sexy men, of course.

The fabulous lewlinx moved across the pond earlier this year to romance her own wizard and to ogle Quidditch soccer football players up close. She also embarked on the Witches' European Tour, a decadent journey designed to make the rest of us envious.

seaislewitch: I am finishing the last chapters of You Are Mine, Part III my trilogy Romance, Slytherin Style (romance_slythrn). I am also researching and outlining my first original novel -- a sexy urban fantasy thriller set in the near future -- which I will begin writing in January.

In December, Romancing the Wizard will post the Second Annual Holiday Drabble and Drawble Challenge. (We didn't do it our first year.) So, make some time toward the middle of the month to romance your favourite wizard.

We plan on keeping this community active during 2008, with challenges approximately every other month.
