There is a new movement in town.

I Recently Learnt To Know About A (for Me) New Way Of Life, Zero Waste Living. I Watched A Report On Tv About A Girl Named Lauren Singer, Who In Two Years produced Only So Much Trash that Could Fit In A Mason Jar. Yes, A Mason Jar. That Sounded For Me Unbelievable Too. But when I saw how she lived, i realised it was possible, but she had to give up on so many things. I could never do that. Let just take an example, cosmetics. once in every three months or so there is a new make-up line of every make-up company. I am not even crazy about cosmetics. I only buy what I need, but all of them have plastic packaging. Or in the supermarket, everything was in plastic too. We separated our trash in packaging waste, glasses and residual waste. Recently I started to separate biodegradable waste for composting too. I thought even if I couldn't live like Laurent, I should at least reduce my trash. I started with plastic bags. Now I use canvas totes or reuseable bags for shopping. What made this decision easy for me is the fact that many supermarkets and drugstores in Germany don't give out single-use plastic bags anymore. We have to buy reuseable bags.
The second thing I did was to stop buying yoghurt and pudding in plastic cups. Luckily there was one company selling yoghurt in big glas jars. Now there is even two companies doing it. They took back the used jars two.
About cosmetics and drugstore stuffs, I changed to the natural ones. I still can't solve the problem with the packaging though. Lauren made her own cremes and cleaning detergents. I wanted to give it a try and will probably start with a body creme first.
Apparently there is one store in my city, where they sell food in bulk, meaning no packaging. I wanted to go there but haven't found the time yet.
That's all for now. Let's See How long I can keep this up!!
