OMG!!!!!!

One of my friends just got engaged!!!

Okay, so I'm excited by the news, but there are some other feelings swirling around!

WHY YOU BECOMING OLDER, SELF!? WTF!? One of my FRIENDS is getting married in the not-too-distant future! This is CRAZY!

But here's the thing:

They met the summer after high school, so they don't count as high school sweethearts, and they survived a really rough, rocky patch of their relationship and made it through. It only makes sense that they're getting married. I can still remember riding the bus when we were, like, 19, jfc, and her saying, "I think he might be the one, Nikki..."

I could see it then, and I can see it now.

My only worry is that I haven't seen this woman in a while. We used to be really good friends in high school; we would hang out all the time. Both avid readers, we had a mutual adoration of Harry Potter slash fanfiction back in the day. She was a close friend of mine, someone I confided in, but we've grown apart over the last few years as people are wont to do with time. I see her over coffee sometimes. She consulted me for a really personal matter two years ago, which always surprised and touched me, but we're not the same people we were. After all, it's been nearly six years since we graduated high school. SIX YEARS!

I would really like to be witness to this wedding! But the last time I talked to her was over the summer. Would it be weird if I called her now to say congratulations? I saw the news on Facebook, and I said something there (fucking facebook!!!!), but I kind of want to call her and tell her properly, maybe go for coffee and hear the whole story. I mean, this was one of my really good friends, and I'd love to know how it went down and let her now how happy I am that she's GETTING MARRIED!

What do y'all think? What might the decorum be for this kind of thing?

Oh, and if you haven't yet, you really need to watch GoCheeksGo's latest video 'Don't Be a Dick' (http://tinyurl.com/29dquuc) on supporting marriage equality (patricularly if you're gay). Really awesome work, as usual!

OH. MY. GOD.

I am BLOWN AWAY by the awesome feedback on Beside You! I can't even -- seriously, thank you all so much!! Individual replies to your comments are definitely coming; I just need to find the time to sit down and do it, probably later this week. But I'm ecstatic and heartened and really freaking amazed with the positive response!! It means SO MUCH after all this work!

Cheeks' squee!

omg

I love these two so much!

"Is this for the fans!?"

And this wonderful exchange:

"Well, maybe you could try some exercises?"

"I don't know how you would really..."

"This is a good one."

"Just that?"

"Mhmm."

Seriously, LOL!

I'll be so sad when this series ends.
