Hello and welcome to Robot Sequence!

The reason I ([personal profile] auldesola ) made this community is simply because I love robots. Because I love them I wanted a place where we can share and write fiction about our robot OCs all in one place and delight in robots together. Let this be that place for you and me, for us all.

Need to Know Basics:

1. I would like to keep all entries in the 100-1,500 words range just for brevity. But I am not going to count so if it's 1,700 or 2k words, I won't know. I will only be overjoyed to read about your robot OC(s).

2. You must be a member to post. All member entries must have a robot who plays a major part! The writing doesn't have to be from the robot's pov, but the robot must be central or crucial to the piece.

3. Drawings and art are encouraged whether included in your own work, for visual assistance, or fanart of someone's robot(s). You may also post art alone with no story if writing isn't your thing, just make sure it's under a cut same as the writing. GenAI "art" of any kind will not be tolerated. Those are not the robots we're looking for!

4. Robot OCs from existing fictional media are allowed! If you have robot OCs from any fandom we would love to see them! I prefer one fandom per post, except in the case of crossovers, of course. I ask you to not do more than 3 if there is a crossover

5. There will be monthly challenge prompts that consist of 4 words or sentences. You can use 1, 2 or all of the prompts. It's up to you! You are also free to post multiple posts using each prompt individually. This will not be seen as spam, I promise. The challenge words or phrases do not have to be in your piece, although they can if you so choose. You can make it an easter egg or use it to inspire you. It's mostly meant to be the theme or vibe. And it can be any tense, variation, or form of the word/phrase. Additionally, you are welcome to write for previous challenges at any time. I only ask that you indicate/link back to the challenge # so we all know.

See example challenge post here

6. Make sure you post as entries to the community, NOT as comments to the challenge posts! You can either post directly to the community with post entry, or post to your own journal and just post a header that links here or crosspost - all is acceptable.

7. Please put the body of your entries under a cut so that only the header is visible. We don't want all 1,500 words hanging out in the open.

Feel free to use this example post for your quick posting needs!

8. Put Content Warnings when present (Rape, non-con, dub-con, underage, incest, suicide, character death, this likely goes without saying). If being specific spoils something meant to surprise, I recommend stating that the work contains potential triggers by saying "Sensitive topics" or "Content Warning" in the warning portion. Or consider using the Details Disclosure Tag in HTML (in the first "Example" portion click "Run Code" to test how it works in the live preview) for warnings you want to allow others to opt in/out of if they choose to do so. It is very simple HTML and it works in dw.

A details disclosure tag will look like this:
click the arrow to learn the truth you smell

Ratings in general use the AO3 rating format (G, T, M, and E)

9. If you have any questions or suggestions for challenges or other activities you may leave them at the Ideas and Inquiries post. And Tag Requests are to be handled over on the aptly named post.

BONUS: Feel free to collaborate with each other by merging worlds or making your robots interact with other member's robots (with proper permissions/agreements first!). Make sure to put full use into that category: collab tag

Tagging System:

Please refer to the tags already in use in the Tags page as reference for your entry. Tags should include a category, a rating, and a type (if your entry is non-romance use the type:gen tag). Entries may also use a fandom tag, if a fandom is present (fandom: "series name"). I
f you think a tag is missing/needed you can ask me at the Tag Requests post.

Explanation of the type: romo tag: this tag is meant as a nonbinary gender selection should robots and characters involved not be binary gendered and some manner of romance is involved (I needed another romance tag that wasn't gendered for such characters) or if you just want everyone to know "this one is nb."

If something is written about enough, for example: if wireplay comes up enough, I may add it for everyone to use more freely so people can find such reading material with ease.

In conclusion, please know that no one is required to participate in every challenge, though you're more than welcome to should the robots tickle your processor just right ;)

Let's have fun writing and talking about robots!

ANNOUNCEMENT!

I will be changing the prompts schedule to be MONTHLY instead of bi-weekly. This will mean there are 12 challenges a year, but since there are 4 prompts every challenge I feel like this is a fair change. Do as much as you can with all 4, whether doing just 1 or even 4 individual entries each prompt, or combining them all in one or something else, you have free reign to choose. 4 prompts bi-weekly was too much in too little time, so this is why I've made this change.

Because of how late in the month the last challenge was, I will let it run throughout January as well. The next challenge post will go public as of Feb 1st 2026 at 8AM as usual. All ensuing challenges will fall on the first of each month thereafter.

Also want to remind everyone of another part of Rule 5: you are welcome to write for previous challenges at any time.

I encourage you to take advantage of combining previous and new prompts as well to make your piece go in other neat directions! I only ask that you let us know which challenge prompts you are using when combining different ones. Happy writing.

Thanks for reading, and have a happy new year!

This is where you can plan collaborations with each other if you choose to do so! Make use of that category: collab tag!

Obviously, you can also work out collaborations in private, but I thought it could be fun to have a public option too. Especially in the case of some wanting to work with someone they are not friends with.

Here's where you can request fandom tags and suggest any other tags I missed or that you think would be useful. If I missed a tag it would be a great help to link me to the entry with any missing/needed tags!

Any other questions should go on the Ideas & Inquiries post.

Here's where you can ask any questions or make suggestions for future prompts or activities!

Please be patient if you don't get an immediate reply. I'm the only mod in this community and I've got a life outside this place. I'm also taking part in writing challenges, myself. Not to mention, sleep is a necessity for us mortals.

Ask away and I will get to it as soon as I am able.

Here's the Tag Requests post if you're looking for that.
