************************************************************* Update: August 9, 2007 This place has been dead for .. basically .. years.
Nevertheless, I still get requests to join. Most I just drop after a brief perusal of the LJ of the person in question.
Most seem to be more into the furry community than therianthropy. I'm thoroughly disillusioned to what I see come out of some of the people claiming to be therianthropes these days, anyway.
For that reason, I don't want to deal with it. It's easier to deny than try to communicate with most of these people.
To those of you that take insult to this; I don't really care. I don't have the time or strength to try to get into deep, involved, long-lasting discussions with people anymore. Especially since, often enough, the people I end up talking to about therianthropy insist that THEY are right, and I know nothing. Yeah. I know nothing. But I still run this community, so guess who's up shit creek?
SOOOOOOOOOOO...
I'm going to start approving all those who want to join. I still expect such people to read the information in the User Info file, and answer the questions APPROPRIATELY. This means you have to think! Oh noes! If you don't post within 48 hours, you may be dropped or publicly ridiculed.
But if your posts are stupid, retarded, ignorant, or .. if they just annoy me...
I may drop you on sight. Or I may belittle and/or insult you in public replies. Or maybe both. Whatever I feel like doing.
I know, I know, I'm an ogre. I'm an overlord. I'm the RLT Hitler. Whatever. I really could give a rat's ass who hates me and who doesn't. There's not many people I like these days, anyway, and quite frankly, I seriously lack the will to get to know or learn to like anybody else.
That being said, if you think this is bullshit and don't want to be involved with it, you know where the door is. Leave. Don't give me your opinion, I couldn't give a shit what it is, and I'm sure I already know, anyway. Just leave.
If you still want to be involved, post away, have fun. If I don't like it, you'll know. Simple enough, right? *************************************************************
The community is now moderated open invite, but you must be a member to post. If your posts are unsatisfactory, and you show a blatant disregard or ignorance of what therianthropy actually IS, expect to be brutally corrected. In other words, if you want in, you're in. But you'd better be prepared to explain yourself, and take potentially blistering criticism for your explanation. If you don't like it, don't join, or leave. If we don't like you, you will be forced to leave. There may or may not be any warning. No, it's not fair. But life isn't fair. Get over it.
Users who do not post will be occasionally and randomly removed from the community. If you want to be an active member of this community, BE ACTIVE.
Be sure, when writing lengthy posts, to utilize the "lj-cut" function that Live Journal provides. To find out how to utilize this functionality, please CLICK HERE.
This community has been founded to allow *serious* therianthropes to join in and discuss their personal therianthropy, as well as takes on modern-day therianthropy, where therianthropy is going, spirituality, etcetera. In order to do so, posts can be taken from other users from different forums and pasted here, in order for others to reply in an environment which will tolerate harsh, but intelligent replies. Too many of the therian communities out there are oversensitive or afraid of running people away. This one is NOT. So, if you had something to say to somebody somewhere else that you couldn't because of their rules, bring it in here and flame away. Just make sure it makes sense, lest the flames be turned on you.
This community has been specifically started because of the problems with "posers" in other, more opened communities. This community will not cater to those who do not have serious, realistic takes on therianthropy, and should any of those users choose to post here, they will have to abide by these restraints, or they will be grilled until well done, and/or removed.
Input from those with a fledgling interest in therianthropy are MORE than welcomed to join in, so long as they are looking for serious, realistic input on the subject. But watch how you behave. If you come in claiming to know something about therianthropy that you do not know, then you can expect to be toasted well. If you come in and ASK, rather than TELL, you'll find that people will be much more opened to your questions. Come in with the attitude of "The community is right, I may not be." If you come in thinking you're right and a ton of others are wrong, you're going to be treated like the ignorant, arrogant ass you are.
Pointless flaming of a user is not permitted. However, correction, constructive criticism, and virtual smacks upside the head or boots in the ass are allowed, provided serious content is included in the "rant" post. In other words, feel free to rant, flame, whatever, but make sure you have an intelligent point to make.
It is my hope that this community will pull together a group of serious therianthropes who will be interested in realistically delving more into their own spirituality. In addition, I would now like the community to be used to point out the multitude of flaws that are being uncovered in the greater therianthropy community. As such, posts from other therian areas of the internet such as forums, communities, etcetera can be posted here, along with replies from other individuals who have a problem with said posts.
Therianthropy is a serious exploration of the self, kiddies, not a way to make you uber, special, superstrong, furry, or powerful so you can beat up on the lunchtime bully who took your milk money. It also doesn't exist to satisfy sexual urges or fetishes, or to simply fulfull a desire to be something you are not. It pertains to animals which exist. At this point, I'm up in the air about mythical "weresides." Those with multiple weresides (within reason) are also welcomed. Not sphinxes. Not Garou. Not physical shifters, unless you can *prove* your claim beyond a shadow of a doubt... good luck. Not those looking for an easy way through life, or for those looking for a means to deal with their inferiority or superiority complexes. You get the idea.
We require all members that wish to be an active part of this community to post some form of introduction. This introduction should elaborate on the poster's own personal therianthropy... how the poster discovered they were a therianthrope, how therianthropy affects the poster's life, etc. A brief autobiography can also accompany the post, but the biography isn't required. It has been brought to our attention that many people have difficulty understanding precisely what we expect of them, so we've included some simple questions that new users should attempt to answer. As simple as they are, though, the questions will likely be difficult to answer. We believe it is important that those who wish to participate in the RLT be willing to attempt to answer these questions, as we deem them important to understanding one's own therianthropy.
1) Why do you believe you are the animal you claim to be? 2) What makes you think you are this animal? 3) What experiences have you gone through to make you want to explore therianthropy? 4) What does therianthropy in general mean to you? 5) What does your own personal therianthropy mean to you? 6) How does your personal therianthropy affect your life?
We may add, alter, or remove questions in the future. All new users should attempt to answer as many of these questions as possible, to the best of their ability.
Note: To join this community, do not simply add the group as a 'friend', you won't have full posting access if you do that. You need to FIRST e-mail your introduction to blackwolf (at) kaerwyn (dot) com, and then you must actually click here to join. Then, after being granted access, you will have to post your introduction.
