Personality:
Perhaps the most fitting word to use to describe Jolt is "energetic", not a surprise given the fact that he exudes energy, in both mannerism and the fact that he spews elecrticity from every part of him. He's full of life and zeal, cocky and confident with others, especially around his teammates. He likes to think of himself as the life of the party, and takes pride in his accomplishments and status. With the rest of Green Team, he's lively and fun, but takes his role seriously. When it's time to train, he puts in his all, and when it's time to play, look out. He has a love of causing mischief and trouble. All in good fun of course. Bubble wrap in the soles of someone's shoe, leaving someone's fingers in a glass of water as they slept… Basically, don't trust Jolt alone with common household objects and plenty of free time. Jolt has a thirst for experiences. He loves to see and do new things, and gaining a human form opens up a whole new world for him. Jolt takes quickly to new activities, especially if they're physical in nature. Often he'll pick up hobbies and abandon them, as given his high speed attribute and Rash nature, he has something of a short attention span when he thinks something is too easy or not challenging enough to keep his interest.

However, Jolt spends much of his time in training and practicing. He has a very healthy sense of competition, which evolved over time from a not so healthy sense of competition. He's very proud of his successes, and conversely he takes every failure personally. The only person whose fault it is when he fails at anything, be it a Pokemon battle or a game, is his fault. This is especially relevant considering his and his team's greatest rivalry with Red and his team. They've had a consistent back and forth, wins and losses in almost equal measure. But unlike other members of his team who shall remain Char, Jolt's attitude towards Red's team has been boastful, confident, maybe even a hint of respect, but never hateful. The fact that they win battles means only that Jolt himself isn't up to par, and needs to become stronger. And so he trains. Most often after suffering a defeat, he throws himself into training to the point of self-harm. Jolt can easily become distracted by motivation enough to forget about silly things like eating and sleeping. No pain no gain. He's the type who would find a new game and spend days on end doing nothing but playing it until he won. It's an attitude that earns him a fair bit of scolding, but if it means he can be more successful, he'll do it. It also means that in classes, he is attentive and studious; he just hates failure THAT MUCH.

There are not many people that Jolt considers himself truly close to. He doesn't remember his mother thanks to Bill, and wouldn't recognize her if he saw her again, much to his dismay. His past, the way he was raised before meeting Green, his attitude, is not something he cares to talk about very much. He's come a long way since then, and regrets how he used to act. He would have liked to connect with his brothers and sisters, and he knows they're out there, even if he never meets them personally. But he's found a new family in Green and his team, and Jolt trusts each and every one of them implicitly. And like family, even if they argue or get in disagreements, he cares a great deal for them all and would do anything to help any one of them.

Green is like a big brother to him. That or a cool uncle, but not really a father. Green helped him grow from the angry young Eevee he was into the lean mean electrocuting machine he is now, and for that Green will always have his loyalty and admiration. One of his greatest fears now is whether or not he's living up to Green's expectations of him, but that's nothing another round of hell training can't fix.

Bulba, Green's starter Pokemon, has known Jolt the longest out of all of Green's team, and Jolt is no stranger to how much of a mother hen Bulba can be to his teammates. Jolt didn't like Bulba at first, naturally, since Bulba was a symbol of everything Jolt didn't want to be: subservient, happy to be at the beck and call of a human trainer, broken. Jolt resisted Bulba's attempts to make him feel included, at least at first. As he grew to realize that Bulba was trying to be nice to him and help him, Jolt warmed up to him. Sure, he still mostly ignores Bulba's nagging, but he considers Bulba a good friend and a great moral center for the rest of their group of miscreants.

Char and Jolt never got off on the right foot, and given Jolt's size as an Eevee, he was optimal punting size for a disgruntled Charmeleon. Jolt never particularly liked Char, and Char never particularly liked Jolt. But as time went on, they warmed to each other, and where once they taunted and teased each other with hostility, now it's a friendly greeting more than anything. Their vicious and bitter competition is now friendly. And they make excellent partners in crime, so beware when they get bored.

Jolt has not known Nyx very long, but he does like her. She reminds him a great deal of Char, and thinks that she could be nothing but a good influence on him. And by good influence, I do mean reinforce his chaotic nature.

Backstory:
Once upon a time, there was a young Eevee, taken from his mother at a young age and instead raised by the Pokemon researcher named Bill, in his efforts to continue research into the then-mysterious and rare race. Bill was fascinated by Eevees, and collected a number of them to study their methods of evolution and their incredible genetic potential. The young Eevee did not want to be separated from his mother, and was a very ornery and misanthropic creature while under Bill's care. He grew older but not wiser, never losing his rebellious attitude and insubordinate nature, and never grew warm or familiar with Bill, who seemed far more interested in studying him than anything else.

Bill was interested in ensuring that Eevees propagated and become less rare. So as young trainers came to see him, he gave away the Eevees he had raised to them to take as new Pokemon. One by one the Eevee's friends were taken away from him, and with each friend lost he became more and more bitter. And then, one day, it was his turn. A young aspiring trainer named Green arrived at Bill's Cerulean City lab, and as expected, Bill offered him an Eevee. This time, it was his turn to say goodbye to his friends as he was quickly sucked up into a Pokeball and handed to the young trainer. The Eevee was upset, and did not take well to his new trainer. Green was determined to become the greatest Pokemon trainer in the world, and was eager to see how well Eevee would fit into his team. And Eevee was about to have his skills put to the test, as Green decided to field him in battle against his rival, Red. Eevee fought valiantly, more for himself than for his trainer, and in the end victory was theirs. Eevee was unbeatable. Green didn't matter, only winning. And Green didn't seem to mind that mentality; it only meant that Eevee would do his best and come out on top. They went on to win battle after battle together, and Eevee was on top of the world. Until one day, they encountered Red again, who had been training up his own team. Eevee expected an easy win again. This time things went differently.

Eevee was angry. Very angry and very sad. For the first time, he knew failure. Even with all his strength, he was a loser. But Green was not dissuaded. He declared that he would simply train enough so that the next time they met he would win. And he took Eevee back home to be cared for by his sister. It was like nothing he had ever experienced before. The warm nurturing of a real family, after spending his early years surrounded by scientists and researchers… Green stewed after the loss almost as much as the Eevee himself did. Eevee was ready to just give up then and there; what good was he after all? But to his surprise, Green didn't feel that way. The defeat had done nothing more than harden his resolve to be the best Pokemon trainer ever, and he instilled that same ideal in Eevee's mind. He assured him; They WOULD get stronger. They WOULD get better. They would assemble the best team the league had ever seen, and they would be the best, together.

Green wasn't the most gentle trainer that ever lived, and he pushed Eevee harder than he ever had been pushed before. Green's team continued to grow in numbers as they encountered more and more Pokemon on their journey. And something remarkable began to happen. Eevee began to soften to the boy. He was so much like Eevee himself, like a kindred spirit: untamed and driven with a desperate need to prove himself. He had one goal and he chased it with all his might. And Eevee admied that, enough so that before he realized it was happening, he was starting to look up to Green. For the first time he had found a human he respected. That's why when Green had gotten his hands on a set of evolution stones, and the decision came as to what form Eevee would finally evolve into, he decided that he trusted Green enough to choose well. And so it came to pass that the Eevee ceased to be an Eevee, and became Jolteon (and finally got himself an honest to Arceus nickname).

The team trained together and fought together, winning one gym battle after another. They traded victories with Red and his team. And one fact about Jolt never changed: Defeat was intolerable. It was a sign that his hard work had yet to truly pay off, if among all others, this one team kept giving him trouble. Green's determination to win was equal only to Jolt's own. And every defeat just galvanized that resolve. Eventually, the team together had done the impossible: They defeated the Elite Four, and became the champions of the Pokemon League. It was the proudest moment of any of their lives; all their hard work finally validated and their status sealed!

Until Red showed up. Red plowed through the Elite Four. And Red trounced Green and his team. They had been the league champions for only a few hours. Professor Oak, on his way to congratulate them for their victory, was now congratulating Red, and informing Green that he didn't understand how to raise Pokemon. Jolt couldn't believe his ears. They had done everything right, and they STILL LOST! Jolt perhaps took it hardest out of all the team when their dream ended just as soon as it began, but Green was not disuaded. He took them along and went to the Sevii Islands. They would reach the top again one day, and they needed to be ready.

Eventually Green found a new role: the new gym leader at the Viridian City Gym. It was a very different life for Jolt, having to defend the Earth Badge from being claimed by upstart trainers who reminded him so much of how they used to be. But Green still adventured, and still had his beloved Pokemon by his side. Jolt has been proud to be a member of that team from almost the beginning, and continued to battle with pride and dignity.

Things continued on in that manner, until Green's wanderlust took hold of him one more time. He set off from Viridian City, and left for a place called Smash Academy in Final Destination City. Other members of the team started to follow. And Jolt became lonely. Even with the other gym trainers and the remaining members of Green's team left, he missed his trainer too much. And so one night, he set off to find his new family and reunite with them once more.

Boooooooored!

Geez, from all the talk I heard about this place from Bulba, Char, Blast, Rhys and the bunch, I thought this place would be all action all the time! The heck is everyone sitting around STUDYING for? When did you have to start STUDYING at a FIGHTING SCHOOL?

So when do things start blowing up? When do aliens or monsters show up and start terrorizing people? How are people still eating at the cafeteria and NOT turning into babies or four armed mutants?

And why the heck do we have homework? Lame... If I wanted to be THIS bored I'd have stayed in Viridian. At least they don't make you do homework for gym battles! Well, besides training.

...

Not that I'm not gonna do it. Like hell I'm failing out of spite. I guess I'd better hit the library... Damn it...

In-Character 3rd person sample:
It was late at night. Most of the school was asleep in their dorms. You had to either be nocturnal or crazy to still be up and about at this time of night. And judging by where Jolt was at the moment, the latter was more likely. For only a crazy person would have been up at night just to sneak into the Arena's computer room, just to program a flat arena with a Sandbag in the middle to beat up on. Jolt nodded in satisfaction as he looked over his handiwork. It wasn't pretty, but it didn't need to be.

He was very confident with his abilities in Pokemon form. Sure, he always wanted to continue his training, but since arriving at Smash Academy and obtaining a brand new human form, he had a whole new set of things to get used to. The least of which was learning to control his electrical powers in this new body. It took him an embarrassingly long time to get the hang of walking and running in his new body, regaining his agility from his smaller natural form. He had the scraped knees and palms to prove it. But his typical determination just made him power through any setbacks; something as simple as WALKING wasn't going to best him. And if he wasn't going to let that stand in his way, he wasn't going to stop until he had re-mastered his natural abilities.

Stepping into the arena and standing in front of the emotionless Sandbag, Jolt flexed his fingers and rolled his neck, limbering up. He stretched his legs, warming up for action. When he was ready, he held out his hand. In his Jolteon form, flinging electricity was as simple as willing the build-up of negative ions around his body and channeling it into usable power. Having fur made it a little easier. This would take a bit more getting used to. He closed his eyes, consciously feeling around in the air, trying to sniff out the negative ions he knew were in the air surrounding him. All it needed was focus. Come on. You can do this.

Jolt bit his lip, concentrating as hard as he could. The ions were all around him. He just had to draw them to him. And he could feel it; the hairs on his arm were standing on end. He didn't open his eyes. He just controlled his breathing, willing more and more negative ions towards him. He heard the familiar crackling of electricity, and could feel the shocks jumping between the fingers of his outstretched hand. It tingled a little bit, more than it did in Pokemon form. Something he'd get used to in time. But this familiar feeling comforted him; energy was all around him, and he was its master. When he had enough of a charge, he whipped his hand back and flung it forward in the direction he remembered Sandbag sitting at. The crackling of electricity striking something filled the air. Jolt opened his eyes...

A bit to the left. Sandbag wasn't even singed. It stared back at him with unfeeling, unchanging eyes, and Jolt felt a tinge of disappointment. He gritted his teeth. This time it took less time for him to build up energy in his hand. He left his eyes open this time as he took aim and released another burst of energy at the bag. This time it was a direct hit, leaving a black mark in the middle of the bag.

Jolt grinned to himself. "It's a start," he said to nobody in particular. "Let's see if I can pull off Thunder now..."
