Ringquest: The Journal

The site is just about finished!

It isn't open yet, and probably won't be until sometime tomorrow - if you go to the Hobbit Forums main page you'll still see the "coming soon" thing - but you can get to the forums by going to hobbitforums.com/index.php, and I'd like to invite anyone who's interested to register a day before we officially open. This will ensure that you get your first choice of a username, and hopefully if a few of us make posts today and tomorrow morning it won't appear so "empty" to new members.

I've also set up a separate usergroup for the lovely folks who help get the forum off the ground. It essentially gives you all the privileges of a user who has reached 300 posts (including being able to upload a custom 100x100 avatar and increased PM space) plus a "Founding Member" title under your name. If you'd like me to add you to this group, spend me a private message on the forums (or on LJ - just include the name you registered under) and I can do so.

Also, I'd just like to say again that the site is extremely new and we can make lots of improvements as time goes on, so if you have any suggestions at all I'd be delighted to hear them.

I've recently been contacted by someone who is planning to set up a Forum for discussion of the upcoming Hobbit movies. inkyness contacted me to find out if I would be willing to join such a forum as they want to get people interested before it opens so that membership won't be awful. To reiterate, the board isn't openyet but will be soon!

I just happened to wander to this community and it made me realize how I miss the old Ringquest forums. The site hasn't worked for me for months now. I get that funny nostalgic feeling now that I think about how long ago it was when I joined.

Ah, memories.

Do any of you guys still post on RQ sometimes?
I sometimes still wander there, mainly for nostalgia reasons, but it's all either a) forgotten and abandoned (booo) or b) taken over by new members I have never talked to. And I am generally weary of them, just because they're new members and therefore I can look at them with disgust :D Theeheee.

shieldmaidenjen and I bring you tolkiens_realm>! It is a LOTR sorting community with contests and discussions and such. Tolkiens_Realm is a ring of communities designed to be like a forum in a way with fun and such, but to also be a part of Middle-earth itself. Each month there will be fanfiction and icon swaps, contests, and more! If you know anything about sorting communities and hogwarts_elite, you will get my idea. I'm trying to make a LOTR hogwart_elite! FOR US LOTR FANS! So, I'm looking for anyone interested in helping.

I was thinking calling it Tolkien's Relm.

I made a post about it in my journal, and there's talk about some ideas.

And something I'm doing unlike most sorting communities: I'm not kicking people out!

Why? Because I had the original.

I've always wondered why we never spoke about it openly on RQ, what with the ammount of fake art she posted there as well... I gotta give it to her, though, she got me thoroughly interested in photomanips. ;)
