there is no parallel dimension where you can live happily ever after and there is no way to turn back time and start again. The future is literally the only thing that exists. You have to imagine yourself growing older and you have to imagine the future because it's quite literally the only thing that's real.
this applies to real life but also to fiction. If you can tell me your characters can go back in time or to a parallel dimension they can be happy, or that they can somehow erase their experiences good or bad, I have no reason to care about them. Make them carry that weight.

I've posted about this before, but despite what most news cycles would have us believe the amount of land burned by wildfires each year is actually decreasing. It's been decreasing for awhile, and 2026 is on track to see the least land burned since 2003.
Simon Clark does some really excellent solutions-focused, non-doomerism climate reporting and as usual he makes some fantastic points in this video. Namely, that we are hearing more about wildfires because they are having a greater impact on North America and Europe.
Globally, Asia and Africa have the greatest amount of land burned from wildfires. Due to land conversion and better land management practices, wildfire prevention in those regions is improving so quickly that we are currently outpacing the increases in risk due to climate change.
But since wildfires are becoming more intense and impacting more people in Europe and North America (though that is partially due to more humans living in fire-prone areas, where wildfire risk is greater--here's a post about that), we hear about them more.
Which is not at all to say that intensifying wildfire impact in the Global North doesn't deserve concern, care, or resources. Of course any loss of habitat or harm to human lives and livelihoods due to unnecessary wildfires is tragic. But this is a good example of how a disproportionate spotlight on certain regions can hide an overall improving trend in the rest of the world.
And politically speaking I do agree that your movement needs some people who are willing to "appear normal" in order to start the process of convincing people of your ideology. I just don't think this should become instructions that Everyone needs to appear normal; there will always be those who can't or won't(and your movement probably drew those people in for a reason!) & it's just not realistic to put that pressure on people.

CATEGORY is a PROCESS. we are always doing the PROCESS of CATEGORY. we are always MAINTAINING category through its processes. so IS thing belong in CATEGORY can become → why is it IMPORTANT that thing belong in category or not belong in category? important to WHOM? why is it important to THEM/US? what are WE trying to achieve with CATEGORY? if our uses are clarified, the purposes of our proposals can be a little more honest.
