Fire Effects Information System

Syntheses about fire ecology and fire regimes in the United States

Primary tabs

The Fire Effects Information System (FEIS) is an online collection of scientific literature syntheses about fire effects on individual species and ecosystems in the United States. FEIS syntheses are based on thorough literature searches, often supplemented with insights from field scientists and managers. FEIS syntheses are efficient to use, peer-reviewed, thoroughly documented, and defensible.

The Fire Effects Information System is transitioning from its long-standing website. Content continues to be added here. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please check the legacy site: https://www.feis-crs.org/feis/
