went out with my best friend’s workmates the other night and I instantly remembered why I hate shallow men like a physical condition. because explain to me why I genuinely had to explain that you can’t apply equality only when it’s convenient for you as a man. and that relationships are about devotion not who the fuck “will do what” as if it’s a business transaction.

and mind you, that’s an educated mf I was talking to, working in one of the biggest companies in the world, so you’d think education would’ve helped him be a better human being but ooh noo. I was eyerolling so hard at the end that my friend redirected the conversation to sports.

funniest thing about the whole thing though was what I sent my guy at the end of the day:

I read once that every author clutches around an emotion and tends to revolve around it in whichever piece they write. So I’ve been recently reflecting this over my merthur fics especially with MBARBYC and found how my core emotion is, almost always, devotion.

I’m always thinking about the measures or supreme devotion they did for one another’s sake— be it drinking poison or following one another into war— never asking for reciprocation.

I’m always wondering on how arthur would have went extreme measures in showing merlin his own devotion after knowing everything merlin has done for his sake.

I’m always trying to highlight how devout, not possessive, they were of each other, because to me, they have always been a “I’m yours” ship before a “you’re mine” one.

and maybe that is what will always feature in a regulusrules fic.
