My coworker remarked today that any developer not utilizing AI and any business not adopting AI will ultimately fail hard and fast. I disagree. I can’t help but think that we might be witnessing the peak of AI.
If I’m not mistaken, AI learns from the statistical average of the data and content it’s trained on. So therefore, if engineers cease researching, writing original content, producing high-quality code, and conducting in-depth and well-researched articles, the quality of AI responses will inevitably decline. I feel like I’m living in a monotonous and uninspiring world where people poop AI responses directly into spaghetti code. Every PR, I actually have to RTFM and realize that an option doesn’t even exist for a specific function or configuration because of the hallucinations and lack of due diligence. I truly believe that I'm destined to become the next generation of COBOL programmers tasked with cleaning up the mess caused by those blindly tabbing through life. Am I the only one struggling with these issues? The aspects of computing that initially captivated me like problem-solving, intricate syntax, and deep dives are gradually being abstracted away. Life feels increasingly dull and bland...
