Basic Onigiri Recipe (by ChatGPT)
Ingredients:
• 2 cups Japanese short-grain rice
• 2 ½ cups water (for cooking rice)
• Salt (to taste)
• Filling of your choice (optional but popular ones include):
1) Cooked Salmon
2) Tuna with Mayo
3) Umeboshi (pickled plum)
4) Kombu (seasoned seaweed)
• Nori (seaweed sheets), cut intro strips or rectangles
—————————————————————
Instructions:
Cook the Rice:
• Rinse the rice several times until the water runs clear.
• Cook it using a rice cooker or stovetop with 2 ½ cups water.
• Once cooked, let it rest covered for 10 minutes.
2. Prepare Filling (if using):
• Cook and season your chosen filling (e.g., flake grilled salmon or mix tuna with a bit of mayo).
3. Shape the Onigiri:
• Wet your hands with water and rub a little salt on them to prevent sticking and add flavor.
• Take a handful of warm rice and gently flatten it in your palm.
• Place a small amount of filling in the center and fold the rice around it.
• Gently shape it into a triangle (or ball) with your hands. Don’t press too hard—keep it light and fluffy.
4. Wrap with Nori:
• Wrap a strip of nori around the bottom or sides of the onigiri. Add just before serving to keep it crisp.
——————————————————————
Tips:
• Use freshly cooked, slightly warm rice. Cold rice is hard to shape.
• If making ahead, wrap in plastic wrap and keep in a bento box or fridge (eat within a day for best taste).
• You can sprinkle sesame seeds or furikake (rice seasoning) on the outside for extra flavor.

I wasn't allowed to eat Lunchables as a kid and don't regret it.
"Lunchly" lacks vegetables and contains beverages with artificial sweeteners...
Yuck..
